    The clouds ahead look really really dark and angry, there is 100% rain on the way, it's a no brainer for all the cars to be queued up at the end of the pit-lane.

    I've got to say as a driver in that situation you are desperate, you are just hoping they will allow it. You know the rules but you are just praying.

    Sergio Perez is making the long walk back to the pits. He was told by his engineer that if the marshal gave him a push, it would count as "mechanical assistance" and he wouldn't be able to rejoin qualifying.

    The mechanics are watching on from the Red Bull garage. Sergio Perez was on the soft tyre when he suffered a snap of oversteer and ended up sliding onto the gravel at Copse. The Mexican is still sitting in the car and is on the team radio to say all he needs is a push back.

    The fact that Sergio Perez is in the gravel is a big warning to everybody that the track is not quite dry yet.

    Not good signs for Ferrari who really needed that upgrade to work for them because they really had joined the fight at the front and actually in the last couple of races since that introduction they've just dropped away.

  20. Carlos Sainz was down in the bottom five but jumps his Ferrari up to ninth fastest. Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen, meanwhile, are the only two drivers without a time on the board.
