    Andrew Priestley: McLaren and Lando Norris really got away with one there in Q1. They were parked up in the pits watching on as everyone was on track as the session ended on a vastly improving track.

    James: Remember how critical Red Bull use to be over their drivers? Unbelievable that Perez still has a seat.

    What an absolute disaster for Sergio Perez in the Red Bull. He was hoping to come to Silverstone, a track that he knows very well and try and get his form back in that team but it didn't work for him. He's out of qualifying in the first stages.

    Esteban Ocon is continuing his grievance outside the car in the pit lane. A member of the Alpine crew is trying to calm the Frenchman down a bit and says they'll chat about the incident later on.

    Pierre Gasly in the Alpine is carrying a hefty grid penalty this weekend, so it doesn't matter where the Frenchman finishes this session. Max Verstappen goes third fastest but Lance Stroll leaps all the way to second on the timesheets.
