    Andrew Priestley: McLaren and Lando Norris really got away with one there in Q1. They were parked up in the pits watching on as everyone was on track as the session ended on a vastly improving track.

    James: Remember how critical Red Bull use to be over their drivers? Unbelievable that Perez still has a seat.

    What an absolute disaster for Sergio Perez in the Red Bull. He was hoping to come to Silverstone, a track that he knows very well and try and get his form back in that team but it didn't work for him. He's out of qualifying in the first stages.

  6. Esteban Ocon is continuing his grievance outside the car in the pit lane. A member of the Alpine crew is trying to calm the Frenchman down a bit and says they'll chat about the incident later on.

    Great news for Williams fans, Alex Albon in P6 and Logan Sargeant has made it through to Q2.

  11. The RB of Daniel Ricciardo is home and dry in ninth place. Charles Leclerc is up to third place but Valtteri Bottas is in trouble if Yuki Tsunoda improves...

  12. The Williams of Alex Albon is cruising into Q2 with a time of 1:31.135. Yuki Tsunoda, Esteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo are in trouble.

    The slick tyres no longer have the grip they had, we may well of seen the fastest of this session.

  14. Pierre Gasly in the Alpine is carrying a hefty grid penalty this weekend, so it doesn't matter where the Frenchman finishes this session. Max Verstappen goes third fastest but Lance Stroll leaps all the way to second on the timesheets.

    Max Verstappen continued [through the gravel], bouncing across the stones and out the other side, so he lives to fight another day.

    All is not happy yet at Red Bull.

  17. The Ferrari od Carlos Sainz jumps up to ninth position as Alex Albon falls into the bottom five. Max Verstappen is dangling over the edge in P15.

    There's still no rain, it's very very dark, but no rain as things stands.

  19. Carlos Sainz has dropped into the elimination zone along with Sergio Perez, Yuki Tsunoda and Logan Sargeant. The rain is falling harder now.

  20. Max Verstappen has gone off the circuit! It's the familiar corner of Copse for the Red Bull driver but unlike his team-mate, Verstappen is able to carry on!
