I'm loving the three Union flags at the top of the FP3 leaderboard, it would be brilliant to see the same tomorrow at the chequered flag!

Oscar Piastri must have one stage thought he had refuge from a close title battle given the points advantage he had over his rivals just five races ago.

However, a surge of form from Max Verstappen since then has seen Piastri lose 64 points to the Red Bull man, while he has shipped 20 to team-mate Lando Norris.

Piastri has not yet looked comfortable here in Mexico, either.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of qualifying for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

All three practice sessions were topped by three different drivers - Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.

The latter was fastest in final practice, putting it all together for one big lap that will give him hope of securing pole position and ensure he is in prime position to cut into Oscar Piastri's 14-point lead.

But Lewis Hamilton also produced an impressive lap as he finished second quickest, while third down to 10th were seperated by less than four tenths of a second.

All signs are pointing towards a tight and unpredictable qualifying.

Lando Norris set the pace in final practice at the Mexico City Grand Prix while team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri continued to look uncomfortable.

Piastri, whose lead has been diminished by both Norris and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen consistently over the past four races, was fourth fastest, 0.599 seconds off the pace.

Verstappen was also lagging behind Norris, only sixth fastest and 0.639secs slower than the Briton and complaining of “no grip, front and rear”.

Piastri leads Norris by 14 points in the championship with five grands prix and two sprints remaining this season. Verstappen is 26 points further back after taking three wins and a second place in the past four races.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton was second to Norris, 0.345secs off the pace, with Mercedes’ George Russell third fastest, 0.167secs behind his former team-mate.

The second Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli was fifth fastest, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc seventh from Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar and the second Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda.

    We've had a Ferrari top FP1, we've had a Red Bull top FP2 and now we've got a McLaren topping FP3.

It's difficult to call going into qualifying just who has got the advantage.

Max Verstappen is not happy at the moment and why would he be, he's sixth at the moment. That is not the session Verstappen would have wanted.

Max Verstappen was very quick through the first two sectors but lost time in the final sector. Was that a because he made a mistake or was it because there is something to do with that car in the slow-speed corners where it's not working?

Alex Albon was at one point fastest through the first two sectors but locked up in the final sector and now he is reporting a problem with his car. A disappointing session for him.
