This is going to be a corker right at the end of Q1.

While Fernando Alonso is up in the fast runners in P6, Lance Stroll is pushing hard to get into Q2. The Canadian does it - and goes P4 to boot.

Daniel Ricciardo is next to the cross the line and goes quickest overall! What a lap from the RB driver.

That was crucial for George Russell, he's in P10, that could still change because what you need now is to have a fully charged battery and cross the line just before the chequered flag comes out, that is when the circuit is going to be at its quickest.

Is this a gamble by Alpine? Esteban Ocon is P11 and Pierre Gasly is down in 13th place.

Nico Hulkenberg is the last of the bottom five to head out to try and save their skin. Lewis Hamilton, who is currently top of the timesheets, has also headed into the action. Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon are staying in the Alpine garage.

John: Before this weekend Perez probably thought it could only get better.......it didn't.

Chris Lord: That's Perez gone then. Sure out of Q1, but that is a gearbox penalty to start last or in the pits.

Race control flashed a message about 10 minutes ago to say "low grip conditions" out on track. We'll see now if the Hungaroring has made any improvement while the drivers have been sat in the garage. For now, only five cars have ventured out...

If the rain stops and this gets dry we know in dry conditions when everything is as normal as it should be, it's very very close between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

But in these conditions when it's cooler and particularly if it's damp, then you are going to be looking at the likes of Hamilton coming back into play.

With just over six minutes left on the clock in Q1, we go again.

Sergio Perez was running in ninth place before his unfortunate off. The drivers who are in the bottom five currently are Daniel Ricciardo, Lance Stroll, Kevin Magnussen, Zhou Guanyu and Nico Hulkenberg.

Valtteri Bottas is the driver just peering over the cliff edge in 15th spot with a time of 1:18.443.

There are a number of upgrades on that car, Perez doesn't have the full upgrade package that Verstappen has, so a lot of those parts that might have been short supply I guess are still safe on Verstappen's car.

There were new components like floors on this [Perez] car and they've all been damaged in this crash, it's a heavy impact.

George Russell had a moment at the exact same corner a few moments ago. But unlike the Mercedes driver, Sergio Perez just couldn't save his Red Bull from crashing out.

The marshals are on the scene to collect the Checo's damaged car.
