Sergio Perez has signalled to the Red Bull pit wall he is OK. The Mexican was at Turn Eight when the rear of his car slid out and sent him sideways into the barriers. This is another Q1 knockout for Perez.

Logan Sargeant, sitting in sixth, has a huge lock-up at Turn One and ends up in a slight bump into the barriers. The American is OK, but his car my need a bit of TLC from Williams.

Two weeks on from his Silverstone win and Lewis Hamilton is back on top with a 1:17.087 for Mercedes. With more showers on the way, Charles Leclerc is stuck in the bottom five with Daniel Ricciardo, Nico Hulkenberg, Pierre Gasly and Zhou Guanyu.

Logan Sargeant in the Williams jumps to the top of the board with a 1:17.770 but the American's time is brushed aside by the likes of Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and now Carlos Sainz, who is the driver to beat.

Nico Hulkenberg is one of the first to embark on his flying lap off the back of two top ten appearances qualified and started the race in ninth in Austria and a fantastic sixth in Silverstone.

The Haas boys get us off the mark on what is now a slowly drying track. Kevin Magnussen is quickest so far but his time is rapidly beaten by five other drivers. We all need to get a move on, however, as there is more rain forecast.
