    Sergio Perez has signalled to the Red Bull pit wall he is OK. The Mexican was at Turn Eight when the rear of his car slid out and sent him sideways into the barriers. This is another Q1 knockout for Perez.

  3. The Mercedes crew have a visitor in the pit lane. It's George Russell, who has just suffered a slight twitch and is now looking over his shoulder in P14.

    If you can find the grip on track, then the path to Q2 will be a smooth one. Charles Leclerc has lifted himself out of the danger zone and into ninth place. Lewis Hamilton, his soon-to-be Ferrari team-mate, is still the quickest man at the Hungaroring.

    If things don't improve we may well see nobody else do better and the current situation staying as it is.

  9. Logan Sargeant, sitting in sixth, has a huge lock-up at Turn One and ends up in a slight bump into the barriers. The American is OK, but his car my need a bit of TLC from Williams.

  10. Two weeks on from his Silverstone win and Lewis Hamilton is back on top with a 1:17.087 for Mercedes. With more showers on the way, Charles Leclerc is stuck in the bottom five with Daniel Ricciardo, Nico Hulkenberg, Pierre Gasly and Zhou Guanyu.

    Things are changing very very quickly in these conditions you need to be on the track right now.

  12. Logan Sargeant in the Williams jumps to the top of the board with a 1:17.770 but the American's time is brushed aside by the likes of Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and now Carlos Sainz, who is the driver to beat.

    Nico Hulkenberg is one of the first to embark on his flying lap off the back of two top ten appearances qualified and started the race in ninth in Austria and a fantastic sixth in Silverstone.

  14. The Haas boys get us off the mark on what is now a slowly drying track. Kevin Magnussen is quickest so far but his time is rapidly beaten by five other drivers. We all need to get a move on, however, as there is more rain forecast.

    You can't afford to be on even intermediate tyres when the circuit is this dry, even if it's damp it will quickly destroy intermediates.

    It's not actually that wet, it's been raining for a bit for a while, it started about an hour ago.

    The track is definitely damp but I can see if it continues to rain at this level it could easily dry up enough to have slicks [soft tyres].

    I can imagine this first session is going to be very hectic.
