  1. Postpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 15 May

    Davis -4 (11*)

A par for Cam Davis on the second hole thanks to him sinking a 10 footer after he missed the green with his approach. Nice save by the Aussie.

  2. Rai drops backpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 15 May

    Rai -3 (9*)

A first bogey of the day for Aaron Rai on the 18th - his ninth hole of the first round.

It was all a bit scruffy really; tee shot in the bunker, approach shot in trouble right of the green and unable to get up and down in two.

    No major damage done, though.

  3. Aberg turns in two underpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 15 May

    Aberg -2, Reed E, Spieth +1 (9)

With a huge birdie putt on the ninth, Ludvig Aberg reaches the turn at two under par, three off Ryan Gerard's lead.

His two playing partners drop shots, however, after failing to get close with their approaches to the green.

  4. Hovland maintains strong startpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 15 May

    DeChambeau +1, Hovland -2, Woodland +3 (7)

Ouch. A triple-bogey eight for Gary Woodland at the par-five seventh.

It's only a par for Bryson as well. The runner-up 12 months ago just hasn't got going yet.

But Viktor Hovland does indeed tap in for a valuable birdie.

The Norwegian looks to be finding his form again after missing three consecutive cuts earlier this season and then gaining a confidence-boosting victory at the Valspar Championship.

Some of the world's best golfers have been a shell of their usual selves so far today.

    ...

    I'll get my coat.

  7. Fine start for Scottpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 15 May

    Hatton -2, Scott -3, Zalatoris E (9)

    Adam ScottImage source, Getty Images

Adam Scott couldn't make it four birdies in a row as he pars the ninth, but that's a three-under 32 for the for the Aussie which is a fine start.

Nice start for Tyrrell Hatton too with three birdies and just the one bogey.

  8. Postpublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 15 May

    DeChambeau +1, Hovland -1, Woodland E (6)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

Bryson DeChambeau lines up his third into the par-five seventh but it drifts slightly left and he'll have a 23-foot putt for birdie.

Viktor Hovland's second also goes left and just off the putting surface but he'll still have the flat stick out from that range and he's able to run his ball into three of four feet to set up a very makeable opportunity for a four.

Meanwhile, Gary Woodland finds the water with his approach and will surely end up dropping at least one shot here.

  9. Nightmare front nine for JTpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 15 May

    Thomas +4, Morikawa E, D Johnson E (9)

A bogey finish to the front nine for Justin Thomas, in what's been a painful experience so far with three bogeys and a double on his card for a four-over 39.

Safe to say there's work to do for the two-time champion.

  10. Rai so close to share of leadpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 15 May

    Rai -4 (8*)

After chipping in for birdie on 16, England's Aaron Rai gives himself a look at another birdie chance on the par-three 17th with a fine tee shot to within 20 feet.

Ooof so close! The old horseshoe around the cup and it stays out - so a par, it is.

  11. Postpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 15 May

    DeChambeau +1, Hovland -1, Woodland E (6)

Bryson DeChambeau is in the pines and dirt down the left with a cable touching his ball so he calls an official over to get a ruling and is able to move the cord left and then clip out on to the fairway.

  12. Spieth back to level parpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 15 May

    Aberg -1, Reed -1, Spieth E (8)

Jordan Spieth is on the short par-four eighth and pitches his second shot to within eight feet, setting up a birdie chance which the American takes.

  13. Rose sinks huge birdie puttpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 15 May

    Rose +1 (5*)

It's a confident stride from Justin Rose across the fifth green as he has just downed a monster putt from the fringe.

The flatstick heated up his Masters charge and its righted the ship after a difficult start here.

    Back to one over par.

  14. Fifth birdie for Davispublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 15 May

    Davis -4 (10*)

Australian Cam Davis rolls in his fifth birdie of the day at the first hole, his 10th, to join the group in a tie for second on four under.

Just the one bogey today for Davis - one of the few players to get through the Green Mile under par, showing how good he's playing.

  15. Bogey for Spaunpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 15 May

    Spaun -3 (8*)

JJ Spaun has been ticking along nicely but a bogey on the 17th sees him cough up a shot.

The 34-year-old has finished in the top 10 three times this season at the Sony Open (third) and the Cognizant Classic and The Players Championship, where he was runner-up.

  16. Birdie for Thomaspublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 15 May

    Thomas +4, Morikawa E, D Johnson E (8)

At last a birdie for Justin Thomas at the short par-four eighth, but it took a wonder shot out of the rough after he missed the green with his drive.

Thomas produced a wonderful flop shot, blazing the ball miles into the air and landing it soft on the green before it trickled down to just a few feet for his three.

Collin Morikawa also makes a three, for his second birdie in a row to get back to level par.

  17. Postpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 15 May

    DeChambeau +1, Hovland -1, Woodland E (6)

Bryson DeChambeau hits a decent tee shot down the par-three sixth but definitely does not get the reward it merits as his ball trickles back off the green onto the apron.

Can he chip this in? Nope. He'll have a six-foot putt to retrieve a par.

Viktor Hovland also has to do a bit of a salvage job after leaving himself a long 40-foot putt for a birdie. He comes up six feet short and like Bryson, dunks his putt in the hole.

  18. Rai chips in for birdiepublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 15 May

    Rai -4 (7*)

Oh hello, Aaron Rai! He's now just one shot off the lead!

The par-four 16th is one of the toughest holes on the golf course but Rai leaves it with a birdie after chipping in from off the green.

    A welcome bonus.

  19. Hat-trick for Scottpublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 15 May

    Hatton -2, Scott -3, Zalatoris E (8)

Former Masters champion Adam Scott has reeled off three straight birdies to fire himself into contention.

Playing partner Tyrrell Hatton is just a shot behind him after birdies on seven and eight making it a nice start for the Englishman.

  20. Aberg birdies the seventhpublished at 20:26 British Summer Time 15 May

    Aberg -1, Reed E, Spieth +1 (7)

A magical touch from Ludvig Aberg, whose eagle putt from about half a mile away (not quite that far, but you get the picture...) finishes about three feet from the hole.

A gimme birdie for the Swede.
