Why is MacIntyre wearing a pink ribbon?

    John

    Good question, John.

The players have a pink ribbon pinned on their hats to raise awareness for breast cancer charities.

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -14 (8)

Could this be a turning point, a nerve-settler, for the Scot?

MacIntyre slices it out of the rough, he's got about a square foot that he has to land it in.

It trickles towards the hole, and he nails a seven-footer for par. Go on, Bob.

Scheffler's birdie but then fizzes past, and an "Ohh" rushes around the gallery. Par it is.

    Who wants it more?

It's not what many of you will want to hear, but that is yet another magnificent approach from Scheffler.

He stops it a few paces from the hole, and I mean it stops the second it touches the turf.

It's not fancy, it's rarely edge-of-your-seat stuff, but the golf Scheffler plays is ruthless and efficient.

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -14 (7)

MacIntyre's approach finds the rough on the right of the green. He cannot catch a break.

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -14 (7)

Another missed fairway for Bob on the eight, it's in the bunker. Are the nerves getting to him?

Scheffler, needless to say, smacks it down the middle.

  6. Big fight neededpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -14 (7)

One shot back with 11 to go.

Bob would have probably accepted that challenge on Wednesday evening. Sure, today hasn't gone to plan so far, but there's still plenty of golf to be played.

Yesterday, he said: "What we say in the team, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog, and I grew up fighting to be in this position".

Count him out at your peril.

Bob’s caddy Mike Burrows has the most important job in team MacIntyre from now on.

Somehow he has to force some positivity into the Scot and settle him back into a rhythm, particularly off the tee.

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -14 (7)

An admirable attempt from Bob as his deftly dinked effort just skews left of the hole. It's landed in Scheffler's line, so he'll go next for his par... and tidies up for said par.

Scottie Scheffler's confident stroke drops in and is met by a massive roar.

We have a new leader, folks.

    Fair enough, Paul, fair enough.

A Scot or Scott will win this!

    Fleetwood -9, Fowler -9 (9)

Rickie Fowler makes the birdie from outside Tommy Fleetwood, who burns it past the hole.

    Both tied for fourth.

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -13 (6)

A lucky break for Bob, he almost finds another bunker, but his ball manages to creep its way onto the first cut next to the green.

In typical Scottie Scheffler fashion, he lands it 10 feet from the hole and yanks it back with an invisible string to inside eight feet. Another remarkable shot that he makes look routine.

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -13 (6)

Bob's down the right rough on the seventh, he's got a good angle in and a decent lie, though.

Scheffler manages to hold the right of the fairway on the dogleg-left hole.

  13. Postpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 17 August

    Fleetwood -9, Fowler -8 (8)

Tommy Fleetwood has just chucked a dart onto the ninth green, he can go within three of the lead if he sinks the putt.

Playing partner Rickie Fowler does likewise and has a chance to move to nine under. Fowler is playing for a place in next weekend's tournament more than anything else.

  14. Postpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -13 (6)

His five professional wins, Ryder Cup debut, and gutsy US Open performance from earlier this year say otherwise, Rick...

Bob simply doesn’t have the temperament for it. Maybe he can hang on for second (dubious).

    Rick

    Burns -11 (7)

And tap it in he does, Brian.

Scheffler's usual Ryder Cup playing partner Burns is now just two back.

Don’t rule out American Sam Burns, who has a tap-in at the seventh to go within two shots off the lead!

A difficult and nervy start for Bob, and no doubt the momentum is now with the world number one Scottie Scheffler.

Bob said earlier this week he is a fighter, and the 29-year-old from Oban is in a real heavyweight contest now.

  18. Postpublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -13 (6)

What a shot. Scheffler flicks his ball out of the rough and manages to stop it within five feet, before tidying up for par.

MacIntyre's birdie putt pulls up a few revolutions short. He'll walk off with a par too.

  19. Postpublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre -13, Scheffler -13 (5)

The sixth is a lengthy par three. It measures out at 210 yards with a multi-tiered green.

Scheffler flies it through the green and into the scary stuff.

MacIntyre, who will be a bag of emotions right now, sticks it in the middle of the putting surface.
