Scheffler flushes it down the second fairway.

MacIntyre misses the fairway again. It's in the rough.

It's a tricky hole, the second.

As fans of Scottish sport, this could end up feeling very Andy Murray-esque for us all, aye.

This will go down to the wire. It will be amazing to watch, and Bob will win on the last hole.

    MacIntyre -15, Scheffler -13 (1)

It's hard to emphasise just how good Scottie Scheffler has been this year.

On the PGA Tour this season, he is ranked first for:

    • Scoring average
    • Strokes gained
    • Strokes gained off the tee
    • Strokes gained approach
    • Money earned

Oh, aye, he's also won two PGA Tour events, bagged a PGA Championship and The Open, never finished lower than 25th this year, and is now considered by many to be the most efficient and well-rounded player since Tiger Woods.

  4. MacIntyre's lead halvedpublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre -15, Scheffler -13 (1)

A touch of class from Bob with his third as his chip lands on the green and releases about 30 feet as it trundles up to within a few feet. A good look at par.

Scheffler steps up next and drains his birdie putt, with Bob then rolling his par save past the hole.

A two-shot swing as his four-shot lead is halved.

  5. What course are they playing at?published at 18:51 British Summer Time 17 August

Caves Valley Golf Club is the venue this weekend.

It isn't half bad looking, eh?

Located northwest of Baltimore, in the state of Maryland, it held this event in 2021 when Patrick Cantlay defeated Bryson DeChambeau in a play-off that lasted six holes.

MacIntyre muscles it out of the rough, but it drops short of the green.

Scheffler then stuffs it pin high, just six feet away.

Bob to hold on for the win. He's got the game and the mentality to keep in front.

    Gordon

Come on Bob. I'm thinking by two. Scottie makes it close. But easy for Bob.

    George

Bob to win and Aberg second.

    Angela

    Bob will win. I hope.

    John

I fear a surge from Scottie and Bob feeling the pressure.

  8. Gallus Bob shuts down goading punterpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre (-16), Scheffler (-12)

It got quite interesting on the 14th green yesterday.

MacIntyre sunk a pressure par putt after Scheffler had drained one for a birdie, in a precursor of what may follow in next month's Ryder Cup.

When asked post-round about shushing the punter, Bob was positively gallus with his reply.

"We're in America, playing against their sweetheart Scottie, who I get on well with, he's a great guy," MacIntyre said.

"I expected it today and I expect it again tomorrow. You give me crap, I'll give you crap back. I'm not scared of that."

He added: "I don't know if anyone was thrown out, but there was plenty of people to talk to. He [a spectator] was just jeering. He was just shouting I missed it, he's pushed it. Pushed it right in the middle of the hole, I guess."

  9. Tee timepublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre (-16), Scheffler (-12)

A pleasant round of applause on the first tee for Bob MacIntyre.

He pulls his opening drive down the right and finds the rough.

A more raucous reception for Scottish Scheffler.

    His drive splits the fairway.

  10. Speaking of McIlroy, Fleetwod, and Rosepublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 17 August

Last week's winner of the St Jude Championship, Justin Rose, is currently tied for 30th and three-over for the weekend.

Tommy Fleetwood, who has been ever so close to a maiden PGA Tour win on a couple of occasions this season, is now in a tie for fourth and eight-under.

And Rory McIlroy, who, of course, is now a career grand slam winner, is sitting in a tie for 22nd, even par for the weekend and three over so far for the day.

  11. Ryder Cup ready?published at 18:33 British Summer Time 17 August

    MacIntyre (-16), Scheffler (-12)

A win would guarantee MacIntyre a spot on Europe's Ryder Cup team, which takes place in just over a month at the famed Bethpage Black course in New York.

He's currently fourth on the European list of contenders, behind the already-qualified trio of Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Rory McIlroy.

  13. Ryder Cup watch 🇪🇺published at 18:24 British Summer Time 17 August

Keep an eye on Ludvig Aberg in third, he is by no means out of this.

The 25-year-old Swede is one of the game's great young superstars and will have his eye on a win here, despite trailing by six as he gets going. Expect to see him on Luke Donald's team next month.

Harry Hall, currently tied fourth, is also trying to make a late charge for a Ryder Cup spot.

The bunnet-wearing golfer from Cornwall is enjoying a breakout season and, while it would be an outside shout, has certainly earned the right to be in the conversation for one of the six captain's picks.
