  1. Bogey for Hattonpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time

    Hatton -5 (14)

More muttering and chuntering from Tyrrell Hatton as he stalks off the 14th green with a bogey.

He was a little aggressive with his third up the hill from short of the green and that left him too much to do with the par putt. It's only his second dropped shot of the day though.

Hatton back two off the lead.

  2. 'DeChambeau giving himself a run to make this cut'published at 13:41 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +3 (13)

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup on BBC Radio 5 Live

Bryson DeChambeau is giving himself a real run to make this cut. He’s going to be determined, he’s going to want to make it.

He’s never done well in this championship yet so he’s going to want to do two more rounds and you just never know.

  3. Westwood opens with parpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time

    Detry +1, Gotterup +1, Westwood -2 (1)

Lee Westwood's second round is up and running with par on the first.

Westwood gets to the green in two strokes but an opening birdie proves just beyond him.

  4. Last holepublished at 13:40 British Summer Time

    Bezuidenhout -2, R. Hojgaard -4 (17)

Not the round Christiaan Bezuidenhout would've wanted as he's two over for the day as he tees off down 18, but Rasmus Hojgaard is two under, four under for the championship, and has been knocking about at the top of the leaderboard so will be keen to try and pinch another shot at the last.

As Darren Clarke told us though, it's not that easy...

  5. Birdies all roundpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +3, MacIntyre -5, Rose -1 (13)

These three get the birdies their trio of tee shots deserved. Great play.

Justin Rose back into red numbers. Bryson DeChambeau still in with a chance of making the cut. And Bob MacIntyre now just two shots off the lead...

  6. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time

    Harman -7 (14)

"Oh you dirty dog..." screams Brian Harman as his approach to the 15th green lands just short and dribbles off the front of the green.

  7. Pinpoint accuracypublished at 13:36 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +4, MacIntyre -4, Rose E (12)

These three are having a "closest to the pin" competition on the par-three 13th, it seems.

Bryson DeChambeau is about six feet away and he's the furthest away of the trio! Ridiculous golf.

Justin Rose and Bob MacIntyre are both within four feet.

Must be three birdies incoming, surely?

  8. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time

    Fleetwood -2, McIlroy -1, Thomas E (11)

    Jonathan Bradley
    BBC Sport NI senior journalist

For those watching out for pace of play after yesterday's near six-hour rounds, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas have reached the 12th tee in shy of three and a half hours.

They were four hours in at this point yesterday.

  9. 'McIlroy just taking it in'published at 13:35 British Summer Time

    McIlroy -1 (11)

    Andrew Murray
Former European Tour winner on 5 Live

McIlroy will be just taking it in, You can’t be on it all the time.

You’ve got to just switch off sometimes or have a chat with your caddy, or engage with the crowd or whatever is your thing.

  10. Another parpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time

    Fleetwood -2, McIlroy -1, Thomas E (11)

A par for Rory McIlroy on 11, which is a good score today as it's the hardest hole on the course again today playing a third of a stroke over par.

A missed fair to the left was more bad news though, and that driver's seriously holding him back here. There's a score to be had now as the sun pokes out around Portrush.

  11. US Ryder Cup captain Bradley in contentionpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time

    Bradley -3 (67)

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has put together a heck of a second round today - an eagle on the second, birdies on the 12th and 15th, pars for the rest.

He just missed a 15-footer for a birdie on the last, but he'll walk off to sign for a bogey-free round of 67.

Bradley failed to make the cut in each of the past five Opens but he'll being doing that and a whole lot more at Portrush this week.

And those calls for him to be playing for the US at Bethpage in September will be getting louder...

  12. Hojgaard accepts parpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time

    Bezuidenhout -2, R. Hojgaard -4, Langasque -2 (17)

Rasmus Hojgaard takes bold approach to 40ft putt on the 17th in search of a birdie, but ultimately comes up short. Rather glumly he settles for par.

Playing partner Romain Langasque has a mini fist pump after he rolls in a birdie putt to go back to two under.

  13. Birdie for Bobpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time

    DeChambeau +4, MacIntyre -4, Rose E (12)

A lovely third shot from beside the green helps Bob MacIntyre to a birdie four on the par-five 12th. He's up to four under for the tournament now, three behind leader Brian Harman.

Bryson DeChambeau also makes birdie to keep his hopes of reaching the weekend alive.

Justin Rose has a 15-footer to repair a little bit of the damage from his triple bogey on the previous hole, but that one slides by the left edge.

  14. 'Pins moved to increase difficulty'published at 13:26 British Summer Time

    Graeme Storm
Two-time European Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 Live

These guys eat the holes up, that's why they've moved the pins.

They don't want somebody to run away and shoot 18 or 19 under like we see on the DP Tour.

  15. Postpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time

    Harman -7 (14)

The 14th is playing as the hardest on the course today.

A two-putt par from 30-odd feet - Brian Harman will take that all day long.

  16. Li birdies the secondpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time

    Li -5 (2)

The Chinese golfer Haotong Li continues to carry himself impressively and he has taken advantage of the par-five second.

On the green in two, lengthy eagle putt and potted successfully for birdie.

    Up to five under par.

  17. Postpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time

    English -5 (10)

After a decidedly ropey tee shot into the rough down the 10th fairway, Harris English manages to escape with his card unscathed.

He'll stay at five under and on his own in third.

  18. One off the leadpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time

    Hatton -6 (13)

Tyrrell Hatton at the 2025 OpenImage source, Getty Images

There are four par threes at Royal Portrush and Tyrrell Hatton is playing them supremely well today. The 13th is 200 yards and he fires in a pin-seeker to six feet.

Putt holed. A third two of the round. Pressure on leader Brian Harman.

One more to come Tyrrell... Calamity Corner, the 16th...

  19. Postpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time

    Fleetwood -2, McIlroy -1, Thomas E (10)

    Jonathan Bradley
    BBC Sport NI senior journalist

No sign of the crowds around this group abating any time soon as fans crane necks, climb slopes and even jump into the air to catch a glimpse of McIlroy on the way past.

Marshals really having to put in a shift with the ropes to keep things moving around the tunnel leading up to the 11th tee.

  20. 'Long way to go'published at 13:20 British Summer Time

    Harman -7 (13)

    Oliver Wilson
Former Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live at Portrush

It's not normal to run away with a tournament - there's an element of doubt whether Harman will carry on, but with the way he won last time there'll be slight concern from players looking at the leaderboard.

That being said, there's still a long way to go.

Weather will change and links golf definitely lasts longer.

As we've seen with Justin Rose, things can change in a hole.
