    • Masters: Wins his second Green Jacket, beating second-placed Ludvig Aberg by four shots.
    • US PGA Championship: Shoots four-under 67 in round one, before being charged with assaulting a police officer while en route to the course for his second round - the charges were later dropped. Goes on to finish tied-eighth.
    • US Open: Just avoids missing the cut and finishes tied for 41st, 14 shots behind champion Bryson DeChambeau.

    Hatton +2, Homa +5, McIlroy +6 (16)

Look at that brutal face of the greenside bunker Rory McIlroy is diving into.

There's magic in his wedge though and he's caressed that out and within three feet.

A handy reminder that he's one of the best around.

    Fitzpatrick E, Lowry E, Smith E

The wind is really gusting into the faces of the players on the opening hole, but Shane Lowry somehow reaches the bunker on the left side of the fairway, about 270 yards from the tee box.

    Hatton +2, Homa +5, McIlroy +6 (16)

Rory McIlroy has just left the 16th hole and takes aim at the par-three 17th green.

Ah, it's gone right and trundled into yet another bunker.

    Not been his day today.

  5. Up for sale...published at 15:01 British Summer Time 18 July

    Blackrock House at Royal Troon

Fancy living right in the heart of the Royal Troon links?

The famous Blackrock House, which was built before the course existed and is now situated between the 16th and second holes, is up for sale.

It has been split into two and a four-bedroomed house is on offer. Not that I need to do the job of the estate agent, but with one of the world's most iconic golf courses literally on your doorstep and views of about five holes and out over the sea to Arran, it really does look like the coolest of places to live.

The guide price? It ain't coming cheap... £1.5m. And I do wonder if you'd be able to insure the windows?

  6. DeChambeau closes with par, Aberg birdies 18published at 15:00 British Summer Time 18 July

Despite that outrageous drive, Bryson DeChambeau comes up short with his approach and has a lengthy birdie putt.

He can't sink it so will finish with par and a five-over 76. Not how anyone expected the day to pan out but some solid play from the US Open champ after his early struggles.

Ludvig Aberg finds his form at the last with a magnificent approach and, finally, a made putt to close with a birdie.

Finding a fairway bunker off the tee costs Tom Kim as he bogeys 18.

  7. Bogey for Brookspublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 18 July

    Clark E, Koepka +1, Matsuyama E (2)

Brooks Koepka went left with his second shot and could not rescue a par, so the five-time major champion slips to one over after two holes.

  8. Harman bogeys 17published at 14:59 British Summer Time 18 July

    Harman +2, Hovland +4, Theegala +6 (17)

Brian Harman isn't having the greatest end to his first round - the 2023 champion three-putts from about 35 feet and drops another shot on the 17th.

  9. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 18 July

    Hatton +2, Homa +5, McIlroy +6 (16)

I'm not sure Rory McIlroy intended his ball to squirt out of the rough in that way but he's got it running clear and onto the green.

Twenty eight feet for birdie is too much but he's judged it well and can tap it in for par.

Par for Tyrrell Hatton while Max Homa picks up a welcome birdie.

The reception and the congratulations directed to Bryson DeChambeau as he walked up - he took his cap from his head, he was giving the thumbs up to the crowds on either side.

Scottie Scheffler was unaware that he could emulate a feat achieved by Arnold Palmer at Royal Troon this week.

Scheffler is the first player to win six events before 1 July of a calendar year since Palmer did so in 1962. Palmer then when on to win The Open at Troon that year.

"I love the history of the game, there are certain things that I know and certain things that I don't," said Scheffler.

"That was something that, for some reason, I just never stumbled across so I had no idea that that was a thing.

"I try to stay off the internet as much as possible. When I'm at home I like to try to be at home and be present."

Partnering Scheffler in the first two rounds are fellow American Cameron Young and 2017 Open champion Jordan Spieth.

  12. Par starts for Woods grouppublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 18 July

    Cantlay E, Schauffele E, Woods E (1)

Tiger Woods plays the first pretty nicely, leaving himself 40 feet after two and nurdling it down there to just a foot away for an opening par.

His playing partners have to work a bit harder, with Xander Schauffele sinking a 12-footer and Patrick Cantlay draining a 16-footer to save par.

  13. Lowry and Smith paired in first two roundspublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 18 July

Shane Lowry and Cameron Smith, Open winners in 2019 and 2022 respectively, go out in one of the marquee afternoon groups at 14:59 BST.

Alongside them is another former major champion - 2022 US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick.

  14. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 18 July

    Aberg +4, DeChambeau +5, T Kim +4 (17)

Speaking of Bryson DeChambeau, shot tracker suggests he bullied his drive 400 yards down the 18th with the help of the wind.

That's 145 yards further than playing partner Tom Kim managed.

  15. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 18 July

    Hatton +2, Homa +6, McIlroy +6 (15)

Perfect drive from Rory McIlroy down the par-five 16th but his second shot scrunches wide right and embeds in the rough.

It's unlikely we will see a repeat of Bryson DeChambeau's comeback eagle.

  16. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 18 July

    Harman +1, Hovland +4, Theegala +7 (16)

No dramas on 16 - par fives all round.

  17. McIntyre finishes with birdiepublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 18 July

    Fleetwood +5, MacIntyre +1, Rahm +2 (F)

It's not been easy going for this three-ball but it's a good way for Robert MacIntyre to finish at least, the popular Scot popping in a short-ish birdie putt on the last for a 72.

Jon Rahm misses a 12-footer for birdie and will sign for a 73 shortly. He twirls his putter in the air as his attempt narrowly misses. One of those nearly days for the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood's dalliance with a fairway bunker on 18 means he finishes with a bogey and ends five over for the day.

  18. Pars for marquee triopublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 18 July

    Aberg +5, DeChambeau +5, T Kim +4 (17)

Ludvig Aberg has gone backwards in the second half of round one and he's fluffed his putt again at the 17th.

I think he might be heading to the putting green after this - unless he'd rather just have a hot shower and a towel.

After slicing off the tee, Bryson DeChambeau has 10 feet to avoid dropping back and he slides it in confidently.

    This is more like it.

  19. Morikawa to contend once more?published at 14:41 British Summer Time 18 July

Three years have passed since Collin Morikawa won at Royal St George's on his Open debut in 2021.

He missed the cut in his two subsequent Open appearances, but finished in the top five at the Masters and the US PGA Championship and will hope to be in contention once more this week as he seeks a third victory in a major.

A few hundred yards up the coast, not straightforward for any of this trio, but they all make pars on the first.
