Two things are certain in Portrush this week.

The weather being completely unpredictable and massive crowds wherever Rory McIlroy is.

He seems to be really soaking up the home support and the fans are delighted to see the Grand Slam champion back on home turf.

It's been another good day around Portrush for Bryson DeChambeau.

After a disastrous seven-over round of 78 on Thursday, the two-time US Open champion carded a birdie-laden six-under 65 on Friday to claw himself above the cut line.

And it's been more of the same today, five birdies and two bogeys for a round of 68 means he goes into Sunday on a healthy two under.

We're keeping up with the celebrity spotting at The Open and BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson caught up with Jamie Dornan.

The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star is a member at Royal Portrush and a golfing enthusiast.

What does he make of Rory McIlroy's chances today?

"I think he needs a 62," is what Mr Dornan thinks.

  4. Top 10 winner again?published at 14:29 British Summer Time 19 July

    Open Championship

Right then, say hello to the 2025 Open champion, as history tells us that more than likely the Champion Golfer of the Year will be one of the top 10 after 36 holes.

The recent run of 44 from 50 being top 10 heading into the weekend is pretty strong, and shows that making a big move in the final two rounds on links courses isn't easy.

If the winner does come from this 10 on the overnight leaderboard, who will it be?

Open top 10 after round two:

    • -10 Scheffler
    • -9 Fitzpatrick
    • -8 Harman, Li
    • -5 Hatton, MacIntyre, R. Hojgaard, English, Gotterup
    • -4 Finau, N. Hojgaard
  5. Can Rory make a run?published at 14:29 British Summer Time 19 July

    McIlroy -3 (14:30 BST)

Rory McIlroy is on his way to the tee, but can he put a serious dent in Scottie Scheffler's lead?

He's got a good record of comeback wins on the PGA Tour, although doing it at Royal Portrush against Scheffler in this form is a different story.

What he must do is fix that driver - as he was all over the shop the first two rounds, the worst driver left in the field in fact and he's usually one of the best off the tee in the world.

One thing he won't be short of is support here though. This could be fun if he gets on a roll..

    Wallace -4 (7), Rai E (5)

The caddies of Matt Wallace and Aaron Rai were having a little putting contest on the practice green adjacent to the first tee a little earlier, while their players went through their own warm-up.

Jamie Lane (Wallace) had a good study of a 12-footer up the hill. No real pace in his attempt and it came up a couple of feet shy.

An easy job for Jason Timmis (Rai) to get his ball inside that, despite Lane 'accidentally' kicking his own ball a little closer.

Lane is winning the battle out on the course though. His man Wallace has birdied four of the first seven, while Rai bogeyed the second.

It's been another fruitful round so far for 2023 US Open winner Wyndham Clark.

After a messy five-over round of 76 on Thursday, he hit back with a five-under 66 yesterday to make the cut and he's carried his good form into today.

A blemish-free scorecard so far with four birdies leaves him in a share for 10th, six shots off the lead.

Given the state of some of the punters staggering around Portrush in the early hours of this morning, it's perhaps no bad thing we're off a wee bit later today.

A special word for the young lad, on his own, in the dark, down by West Stands, bellowing out Rock 'N' Roll Star by Oasis like he was on stage.

His sore head and dry throat might take a bit of time to ease today...

There's a spot at Royal Portrush where you can see the 13th hole, 14th tee, 17th green and 18th fairway.

Was stood there earlier when Englishman John Parry aced the 13th.

"Mine's a Guinness, John," came the call from the grandstand as he scooped his ball out of the hole.

Everyone's had their lunch, watched the Lions and began flooding on to the course.

There's just been a huge roar, too, for John Parry's ace at the 13th. Great to hear this place getting so loud.

We could certainly use some early-afternoon electricity on moving day to give Scheffler et al something to think about later.

The Open is the biggest show in town, but another huge sporting event is taking place on the other side of the world as the Lions take on Australia.

We won't give away any spoilers in case you haven't caught up with it yet, but rugby fans at the golf were still able to enjoy it as the game was put on one of the big screens in the spectator village.

Not a seat left in the house.

  16. Rain or shine?published at 14:03 British Summer Time 19 July

    Peter Scrivener
BBC Sport senior journalist at Royal Portrush

Barely a breath of wind as I strolled down to the course this morning. Plenty of cloud cover though. The weather maps are suggesting a 50% chance of rain with some sunshine when the leaders head out.

Depends if you're a cup half full or half empty kind of person as to whether you've got the full waterproofs with you.

My wife would be slapping on the suntan lotion and leaving the brolly at home, while I'm a bit more the other way round.

And I hope there's an earworm in that headline for older readers.

  17. What's happened so far in round three?published at 14:02 British Summer Time 19 July

Scoring has been pretty decent among Saturday's early starters, with conditions looking fairly benign and the heavy rain staying away.

Canada's Corey Conners was in the first two-ball out at 09:35 BST and shot a five-under 66 - which is the day's lowest round so far. He went round in about three hours and 50 minutes alongside Matti Schmid of Germany - who signed for an eight-over 79.

Henrik Stenson, the 2016 Open champion, eagled the seventh hole as he went through the front nine in four under and added a further birdie at the 12th, before his momentum stalled with a couple of bogeys.

    Shane LowryImage source, PA Media

Two-time US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau, who was seven over at the end of his first round, has continued his rise up the leaderboard. He made bogey on the first after hitting his tee shot out of bounds, but has recovered well since then to be two under overall.

Shane Lowry, the winner when the Open was last staged at Portrush in 2019, has just picked up his first birdie of the day on the 10th and is at level par.

  19. Hole-in-one!published at 13:56 British Summer Time 19 July

    Parry -3 (13)

Harrogate's John Parry grabs himself a piece of Open Championship history as he makes an ace at the par-three 13th hole at Royal Portrush!

It's not the easiest hole in the world either as our flyover shows, but the Englishman canned his tee shot from 192 yards away today to send the stands in that little complex there absolutely crazy.

Hope he's got hole-in-one insurance as that'll be quite a bar bill later on...
