    Vu v Valenzuela (15:10 BST)

Albane Valenzuela was one of the two players captain Suzann Pettersen was asked about yesterday after she sat out the whole of Saturday, along with Ireland's Leona Maguire.

If Europe are going to do this, they'll need Valenzuela on her game. Up against the world number two is a daunting ask.

  2. Hull hits backpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 15 September

    Korda v Hull 1UP (6)

A bit of a miss from Nelly Korda on the sixth with a weak fade ending up in the greenside bunker, so when Charley Hull makes her par, the world number one fails to convert another long putt and drops one behind.

  3. Khang misses birdiepublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 15 September

    2UP Khang v Pedersen (5)

Megan Khang has had a few blips on the last couple of greens. She squanders the chance to go three up against Emily Pedersen after coming up short with a birdie putt at the fifth.

There are dozens of bins scattered around the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, each one emblazoned with advertising promoting recycing and living a greener lifestyle in general.

However, there are zero water stations for spectators to fill-up bottles. It's one of several things (shuttle buses, I'm looking at you) the Solheim Cup needs to sort out for the next edition at Bernardus in the Netherlands in 2026.

A bottle of water costs $4 and it's been hot out here this week. Not quite the Spain hot of last year (when water fountains were also non-existant) but certainly warm enough for you to need to keep on top of hydration.

There are members of the Dutch Golf Federation out here this week and they have been taking notes and listening to fans and media.

The Open and Ryder Cup both have provision for, and actively encourage, punters to bring in refillable bottles...

  7. Corpuz goes 2UPpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 15 September

    2UP Corpuz v Nordqvist (4)

Allisen Corpuz has had some luck, but she's also pretty good as well, as she shows by rolling in a birdie putt from 15 feet to move two ahead of Anna Nordqvist.

  8. Coughlin & Stark awaypublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 15 September

    Coughlin v Stark

It's been quite the year for Lauren Coughlin who has gone from apparent journeywoman to a contender, winning two LPGA Tour titles including the Scottish Open.

Coughlin's a Solheim Cup debutant at 31 and faces 24-year-old Maja Stark in her singles match which is the match next off on the first tee.

Stark gets serenaded by the European fans with a song to the tune of 'Baby Shark' and responds by whacking a pretty handy tee shot.

Coughlin lands her drive a few feet away from Stark, albeit in the thicker turf close to the spectators.

  9. Lexi loses the firstpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 15 September

    Thompson v Boutier 1UP (1)

Lexi Thompson, who was in the bunker off the tee, ends up needing to hole out from 15 feet to grab a half, but she's nowhere near with her putt so Celine Boutier takes the first.

I said she was all business on the tee, and she's started off exactly that way.

  10. Ciganda surrenders leadpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 15 September

    Zhang v Ciganda A/S (2)

Carlota Ciganda misses a par putt from the edge of the green at the second and concedes the hole to Rose Zhang. The American who dawdles about to hole a practise a putt anyway.

    All square.

  11. Hall focusedpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 15 September

Nails from Georgia Hall. No flicker of emotion or acknowledgement to the crowd on that green. Game on.

  12. Postpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 15 September

    1UP Corpuz v Nordqvist (3)

Allisen Corpuz has the advantage on the par-three fourth although she's still 20 feet away but still a good five feet closer than Anna Nordqvist.

  13. Another hole won for Hallpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 15 September

    Al Lee v Hall 3UP (4)

    Riproaring!

Georgia Hall has drained another birdie putt at the third and she is leaving Allison Lee for dust at the moment.

    Three up after four.

  14. Will Europe retain the Solheim Cup?published at 14:57 British Summer Time 15 September

More than half the groups are out on the course now and it's been a promising start for Europe.

When we asked you an hour ago (13:42 BST) if the comeback was happening, it was a dead heat between believers and doubters.

Can Europe do this? Thumbs, please.

  15. Korda levels top matchpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 15 September

    Korda v Hull A/S (5)

Not many players can match Nelly Korda with a wedge, and after landing one to 10 feet on the fifth she knocks it in to level this lead-off match.

Huge ovation as Lexi Thompson is introduced on the first tee. Could there be a fairytale ending for the 29-year-old, who is playing in her seventh and final Solheim Cup?

The 29-year-old comes across as a class act in the way she engages with fans and will be sorely missed by the United States and the competition in general.

    Solheim CupImage source, Getty Images

Lexi Thompson is stepping away from professional golf this year so this looks like her final Solheim Cup appearance - and she's looked a lot more stress-free all week as a result.

She gets a huge rousing reception from her adoring fans on the first tee, as she tees off against Celine Boutier, who won't be handing her any leaving presents today - the French golfer, a major champion, is all business today.

  18. Henseleit adds to European leadpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 15 September

    An Lee v Henseleit 1UP (1)

A fast start was required and a fast start has been delivered by Suzannn Pettersen's team.

That's a terrific putt from Esther Henseleit and she nudges ahead against Andrea Lee.

  19. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 15 September

    2UP Khang v Pedersen (4)

Emily Pedersen keeps nagging away against Megan Khang having gained some composure after the American swaggered her way through the first two holes.

Khang is forced to save par with a tricky putt at the fourth.

  20. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 15 September

    Al Lee v Hall 2UP (3)

Georgia Hall is off to a flier. She's just drained from 15 feet to pile the pressure onto Allison Lee.

It's a gutsy putt from her American opponent though who makes her own 12-footer to stay just two back.
