Summary

  1. Ciganda strikes earlypublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 15 September

    Zhang v Ciganda 1UP (1)

Carlota Ciganda chips impressively out of the bunker to leave herself with a putt for par at the first, which she duly makes.

An early blunder by Rose Zhang, though, who bogeys the hole to allow the Spaniard to get a splash of blue on the board early doors.

Europe are going to need more of that if they are going pull off something special today.

  2. Corpuz in frontpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 15 September

    1UP Corpuz v Nordqvist (2)

Robert Trent Jones Golf Club is being really kind to Allisen Corpuz, as I'm not sure she meant to hit her approach to the second exactly where she did, but it stopped just short of the rough, then rolled away from the fringe, tumbled down the hill and ended up three feet from the hole.

Anna Nordqvist gave her that and then had to hole her chip for the half, which she failed to do so slips one behind.

  3. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 15 September

An Lee v Henseleit (14:40 BST)

Dream tee shot for Esther Henseleit as she mauls it down the fairway.

She's followed down there by Andrea Lee. Both will be in prime position to attack the green.

  4. Only two playing all fivepublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 15 September

Charley Hull and Emily Pedersen are the only women playing in all five session from either side. They have both won two and lost two so far this week.

It's the second time that Hull has played in five sessions during a Solheim Cup, having done so in 2015, winning four and losing one.

It's also the second time for Pedersen, who was two wins, one halved match and two defeats at Finca Cortesin in Spain last year.

Pedersen is the second player over the past 15 years to play in 10 consecutive sessions spanning successive Solheim Cups.

Leona Maguire played in five sessions in both the 2021 and 2023 competitions but she will be making only her second appearance this year when her singles match goes out at 15:30 BST.

  5. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 15 September

    2UP Khang v Pedersen (3)

Emily Pedersen holds her nerve to putt in at the third to halve the hole which temporarily puts the brakes on the Megan Khang juggernaut. The Dane needed that.

  6. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 15 September

    Korda v Hull 1UP (4)

Charley Hull knocks in her par putt leaving Nelly Korda taking a long, hard look at what's no more than three feet left for the half.

She taps it in easily enough but that certainly had her attention.

  7. Hall doubles leadpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 15 September

    Al Lee v Hall 2UP (2)

A racing start for Georgia Hall who goes two up at the second.

Allison Lee stuck it in for an eagle yesterday at this hole. A bogey costs her today.

  8. Silver liningpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 15 September

An Lee v Henseleit (13:40 BST)

America only need four points so by the time the sixth game finishes up, we could be done.

Esther Henseleit will hope not. Her outstanding approach at the 18th on Saturday dragged Europe to a crucial point in the foursomes. She's also a clutch player - as witnessed by her silver medal at the Olympics last month.

Opponent Andrea Lee won both her fourballs, including a 6&4 whitewash yesterday. An intriguing match.

'Stone-cold top' approach leads to incredible eagle

After watching that Allisen Corpuz hook on the first hole, we have to take another look at her incredible stroke of luck yesterday.

A huge top with a fairway wood ended up in an American eagle - and we're still not quite sure how...

  10. Scrappy halfpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 15 September

    Corpuz v Nordqvist (1)

A half in bogeys at the first after two average approach shots and again only about six out of 10s for their chip and bunker shot.

    A first hole best forgotten.

  11. Zhang & Ciganda tee offpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 15 September

    Zhang v Ciganda

Next on the first tee are Rose Zhang and Carlota Ciganda.

Zhang is bobbing her head from side to side while she sings along to John Denver's 'Take Me Home, Country Roads'.

The USA's players have all looked extremely relaxed compared to their European counterparts. Stacy Lewis' roadmap to Solheim Cup glory is to have a bit of fun it seems.

Both Ciganda and Zhang hit pretty useful looking tee shots.

  12. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 15 September

    Korda v Hull 1UP (3)

Both players on the green but with lengthy two-putts to complete for par - Charley Hull has the longest of those but it's no problem as she rattles it home (with the flag in) for the half.

  15. Fore left!published at 14:28 British Summer Time 15 September

    Corpuz v Nordqvist

Allisen Corpuz hits a stinker of a low hook, that just catches the edge of the bunker - that's actually a good break as the ball could have disappeared down the hill.

Anna Nordqvist hits a hybrid that takes a heavy first bounce on the green and hops through into the rough.

  16. Khang races aheadpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 15 September

    2UP Khang v Pedersen (2)

Once again Emily Pedersen misses a birdie chance, this time at the second, leaving Megan Khang to tap in and win the hole from a few feet.

Khang duly obliges and takes a two-hole lead. Pedersen is already playing catch up.

  17. 'Fight to the bitter end' - Pettersenpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 15 September

    Suzann PettersenImage source, Getty Images

Europe captain Suzann Pettersen is also down on the first tee and she says her team are ready for this:

"We’re up for a challenge, we love a challenge and I think our girls, they stand on this tee and they’re ready to go like champions do. There’s a possibility and we’re going to fight to the bitter end."

On why Charley Hull was sent out first: "Charley is a strong player. She wants to get going. I would rather have her bouncing out on the golf course than bouncing in the team room.

"She’s up for it. She’s been playing fantastic all week, super proud of how she’s carried herself and the team. She’s ready to take on the world number one."

  18. Hall takes the leadpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 15 September

    Al Lee v Hall 1UP (1)

A loose second shot from Allison Lee opens the door for Georgia Hall and the Englishwoman barrels through it to win with a par.

Hall joins Hull in going one up.

  19. Khang up and runningpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 15 September

    1UP Khang v Pedersen (1)

Megan Khang gets the first brick of what the USA hope will become a red wall in the next few hours as she birdies the first hole.

Khang putts in from about 10 feet while Emily Pedersen overcooks her attempt from further out.

  20. Hottest (and possibly loudest) spot on the RTJpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 15 September

One fan told me they'd been on the first tee for nearly an hour to get a spot prior to this morning's singles matches getting under way at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.

It's very much the hottest spot on the course for a couple of hours every day if you can cope with the blaring music (from the huge speakers that happen to be situated right behind where those in the media are positioned) but there are already significant crowds getting themselves into position down the front nine.
