  1. Schauffele into the redpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 11 April

    Schauffele -1, Hovland -2 (6)

Double major champion last year Xander Schauffele dips under par for the tournament with his second birdie of the day at the sixth.

It's a crisp iron shot off the tee on the par five and a seven footer rolled in for a two. Clearly the rib injury means Schauffele is not as sharp as he would like but he is growing into the tournament.

  2. Rose just a roll shortpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -8 (9)

    Justin RoseImage source, Getty Images

Hit it Justin! The approach from Rose was excellent but just a foot short as the spin on the ball took it away from the hole leaving a 15 footer.

Rose hits another great putt though and it's tracking all the way before just pulling up short of a birdie.

Still, that's a first nine of 35, one under, and still just two bogeys in 27 holes so everything is going along very nicely so far.

  3. Fitzpatrick chips in for birdiepublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 11 April

    Fitzpatrick -3 (7)

That's brilliant from Matt Fitzpatrick on the seventh.

The Englishman plonked himself in the greenside bunker but chips in from the sand to make birdie, which leaves him in a tie for sixth, five shots adrift of Justin Rose.

  4. Pars for McIlroy and Abergpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -5, Bhatia -1 (5)

A touch tentative from Rory McIlroy as his 26-foot birdie putt comes up short.

Maybe we can't complain about a bit of caution - after all Ludvig Aberg went seven feet past with his attempt.

No worries for the Swede though who stills converts for par.

  5. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rahm +3, Clark +4, Fleetwood E (3)

In case you're wondering about Tommy Fleetwood, he has made a bit of positive progress, finding a birdie through his opening three holes to move to level par.

Playing partners Wyndham Clark and Jon Rahm remain rooted at four over and three over respectively.

  6. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 11 April

    McCarty -2 (10)

Matt McCarty is making his Masters debut and only his second major championship start.

And after an opening one-under 71, the 27-year-old appears to be enjoying himself with birdies at the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth but he can't repeat the trick at the par-four 10th despite have a 10-foot putt for a three.

Still he's shifted up the leaderboard and is currently in a tie for eighth.

  7. Bryson on the charge!published at 16:28 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -5, Lowry -1, Matsuyama E (4)

Bryson DeChambeau makes a fine birdie on the fourth as he joins Ludvig Aberg in a tie for second place on five under.

DeChambeau misses the green on the par three and ends up in the bunker, but the US Open showed us he can be a wizard from the sand, as he shows by holing his escape for a two.

Shane Lowry makes a disappointing bogey here though to slip back to one under.

  8. Postpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -5, Bhatia -1 (4)

Despite those booming drives, the fifth hole remains a tricky approach shot and neither Ludvig Aberg or Rory McIlroy can get close to the pin.

It's better for Rory who is 26 feet away but the Swede's ball rolls back down the green and he'll have 77 feet and two shots to save par.

  9. Postpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -5, Bhatia -1 (4)

It's clearly warming up here as Rory McIlroy has shed his jumper before approaching the fifth tee.

Thump, he's thrashed that straight down the middle - and joins Ludvig Aberg 320 yards closer to the hole.

  10. Birdie for Rose!published at 16:16 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -8 (8)

Zach Johnson won the Masters years ago by taking this three-shot approach to the par fives, which are traditionally the holes that you have to take adavntage of if you want that Green Jacket.

Justin Rose just executed it perfectly with two fairway woods followed by a sweet little pitch shot that only left him five feet or so - and those are automatic for Rose today.

    The lead is three.

  11. McIlroy makes parpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -5, Bhatia -1 (4)

This is the second giant putt in three holes facing Rory McIlroy and again he threatens the hole but it stays up.

It trundles on a touch too but he's nerveless coming back and saves par.

Similar story for Ludvig Aberg, while Akshay Bhatia needs two to get out of the sand but escapes with just a bogey.

  12. Hovland moving forwardpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 11 April

    Schauffele E, Hovland -2 (4)

Viktor Hovland, a recent winner despite saying he's still struggling with his game, drains a 10-foot putt to move to two under and right in the thick of this tournament.

  13. Birdie for Brysonpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -4, Lowry -2 (2)

Big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau takes care of business on the par-five second hole with a birdie to move him on to four under and into third place on the leaderboard.

Shane Lowry matches the American with a birdie of his own and he's now two under and sitting pretty as well. Lowry was the best iron player in the field here last year and has a game that really suits Augusta.

  14. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -7 (7)

Justin Rose is leaving the big dog in his bag mostly today, even opting for a fairway wood off the eighth tee which is a par five.

He's looking to just hit a couple of three woods up there and then trust his short game to try and get a birdie.

  15. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 11 April

    Fitzpatrick -2 (5)

    Matt FitzpatrickImage source, Getty Images

Update on Matt Fitzpatrick who continues to plot his way carefully around the first nine on day two.

No fireworks since that lovely eagle at the second but he's still nicely poised at two under par through five holes.

  16. Postpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -5, Bhatia -1 (3)

Plenty of grass being thrown in the air as Rory McIlroy and caddie Harry Diamond try to deduce the wind at the par-three fourth.

Up steps McIlroy who connects sweetly but gives it a little too much heft.

This is a long par three at 223 yards but his ball is barely clinging on at the of the green, 60 feet or so from the cup.

  17. Rose strolling aroundpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -7 (7)

    Justin RoseImage source, Getty Images

Another hole ticked off in a par for Justin Rose and the biggest compliment you can give him so far is that over his first 25 holes of the Masters he's largely made it look pretty comfortable.

Yes, a few bad tee shots here and there but in general he's hit fairways and greens, scrambled well when he hasn't and has putted beautifully.

  18. Par for McIlroy, birdie for Abergpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -5, Bhatia -1 (3)

It's a rapid putt down the hill for Rory McIlroy and he controls his speed well, stopping the ball inside a foot.

    Tidy par.

As for Ludvig Aberg, he's putted himself clear in second place, two behind Justin Rose.

  19. Keeping Gaard...published at 15:52 British Summer Time 11 April

    R Hojgaard -1 (3)

Here comes the cavalry! Jose Maria Olazabal is quickly joined on two under for the day, firstly by Sungjae Im and then Rasmus Hojgaard.

Hojgaard, making his Masters debut, carded a very solid 73 yesterday, although two late bogeys prevented him beating the Augusta jailer.

Today he has raced out of the blocks with back-to-back birdies on two and three to move into the red.

His twin brother Nicolai will be hoping for similar after a rollercoaster round yesterday.

The European Ryder Cup player's four-over round of 76 featured only four pars. Along with an eagle, five birdies, five bogeys and three double bogeys...

  20. Postpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 11 April

The thrid flag is tucked at the front of the green. Even though Rory McIlroy's ball has gone charging down the fairway, it's tough to get in tight with his second shot.

He takes a more conservative play, over the hole and leaving 21 feet for birdie.Unlikely, but possible.

Meanwhile, from a different angle, Ludvig Aberg flights to six feet. A chance to make a move here.
