    In it goes!

Majestic from Rory McIlroy as he rolls that birdie putt in for the first of the day at the 11th.

The world number two has found a bit of juice on this second nine.

  2. Rose still laying uppublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -8 (15)

Justin Rose again lays up on a par five, but it's just not that easy on 15 with that wide, shallow green so difficult to find even with a wedge, especially with the flag on the left as it is today - visually it's such an intimidating shot.

Rose plays his chip pretty well, just needed a few yards more on it so it's a lag putt and tap-in par for the leader.

  3. Great first nines from Shane & Brysonpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -3, Matsuyama -1 (9)

Superb first nine for Bryson DeChambeau with four birdies and no bogeys in his 32 which has seen him cut the gap on leader Justin Rose.

He was all over the majors last year Bryson, he was in contention here for a bit then almost won the US PGA Championship and finally did win that epic US Open.

Shane Lowry has had three birdies and a bogey in a really solid front nine as well - he's also a major champion remember and has been playing nicely this year.

  4. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -2, Aberg -4, Bhatia E (10)

Oh boy - what a shot from Rory McIlroy once again!

He takes dead aim at the 11th flag and picks it out magnificently.

There have no birdies on this hole so far today - the hardest on the course - and McIlroy has just set up five feet to change that.

  5. Postpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -2, Aberg -4, Bhatia E (10)

Amen Corner is such a spectacular graveyard.

I do love the 11th hole, with the yellow flag of the 12th fluttering carefree just behind it.

Rory McIlroy is at the top of the hill looking on as Xander Schauffele's group polish up.

Once they're clear, it'll be 160 yards straight down to this front pin.

  6. Postpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -3, Matsuyama -1 (8)

Shane Lowry followed Bryson DeChambeau with a birdie on the eighth, but really had to work for it after pulling his tee shot miles left.

The former Open champion managed to get himself back on the fairway when hitting through and around some trees, then fired in a precise iron from 175 up to eight feet for birdie.

Lowry's well in the contest here, make no mistake.

  7. Double bogey for Fitzpatrickpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 11 April

    Fitzpatrick E (11)

A disastrous couple of holes for Matt Fitzpatrick, who drops two more shots on the 11th.

The 2022 US Open winner misses the green right and leaves his chip back on around 10 feet short.

However, he then goes on to take three putts and from looking so comfortable on the first nine, suddenly finds himself back at level par.

  8. McIlroy makes second birdie of the daypublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -2, Aberg -4, Bhatia -1 (10)

The easiest putt Rory McIlroy will have all day as he nudges up the leaderboard to two under par.

Ludvig Aberg got extremely lucky with a tree bounce further up the hole and then nearly drains a lengthy curling birdie putt.

Good par save after an erratic tee shot.

  9. Fleetwood up to minus twopublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rahm +2, Clark +4, Fleetwood -2 (8)

    Get in Tommy lad!

Fleetwood has cashed in on the par-five after a tremendous third shot lined up a kick-in birdie.

He'll go to two under par.

  10. Bogey leaves Rose just one aheadpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -8 (14)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

Here we go, a two-shot swing in a couple of minutes as Bryson DeChambeau makes his birdie and Justin Rose makes a bogey soon after.

It's a poor approach coming up short followed by a poor chip also coming up short, and Rose can only two putt from 25 feet to limit the damage to just a bogey.

Rose led by three just a hole ago, but when he looks up at those huge scoreboards next he'll see he's just one in front. Gut check time.

  11. Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -4, Bhatia -1 (9)

    A McIlroy moment!

Breathtaking approach shot on the 10th lands stone dead two feet from the hole.

Is that the spark his second nine needs to catapult him up the leaderboard?

  12. Rahm finds first birdie of his roundpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rahm +2, Clark +5, Fleetwood -1 (7)

Jon Rahm has been plodding around the course so far today keeping his card clean but has just found the touch that made him one of the best players in the world.

    Trees, bunker, hole out.

An unconventional birdie at the seventh gets him back to +2 and one off the projected cut line.

  13. Big-hitting Bryson closes inpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -3, Matsuyama -1 (8)

Bryson DeChambeau uses his big-hitting prowess to tame the eighth, with a 300-yard drive and 250-yard approach out of the pine straw that nestles 20 feet away from the hole.

It's not really an eagle chance as he's putting down a cliff almost on the green, but he taps it and judges it nicely, leaving two feet for birdie to close within two with Justin Rose in trouble.

That's a fourth birdie of the day so DeChambeau is four under through eight and seven under for the tournament.

  14. Hojgaard on the marchpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 11 April

    R Hojgaard -4 (10)

Another birdie for Rasmus Hojgaard, who is yet to have any blemishes on his card today.

Having hit the turn in 32, the Dane reaches five under for the day, after a cracking approach into the 10th.

His ball lands on the apron to the left of the greenside bunker and then trickles down towards the pin leaving a 10-foot putt for a birdie which he duly dispatches.

  15. On the rangepublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 11 April

  16. Par again for McIlroypublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -4, Bhatia -1 (9)

Great effort from Rory McIlroy from back there but his ball burns the edge and again he is settling for par.

Out in 35, but Justin Rose at the top has been making the lead wider not coming back to him.

  17. Postpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -4, Bhatia -1 (8)

Initially that looks perfect from Rory McIlroy pitched past the hole and spinning backwards towards it.

    And to it.

    And past it.

A rueful smile as his ball trundles back and back, finally coming to rest 30 feet from the flag.

  18. Bogey for Fitzpatrickpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 11 April

    Fitzpatrick -2 (10)

Matt Fitzpatrick remonstrates with himself in the middle of the 10th fairway. The Englishman is fuming after pushing his approach into the right bunker.

There is not even a direct chip that'll get him close to the pin on the sloped green, so he flips his ball out well right but then can't make the return putt for par from 23 feet.

  19. Xander warming uppublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 11 April

    Schauffele -2, Hovland -3 (9)

Xander Schauffele is warming up now as he birdies the ninth thanks to a bullet of a drive, and last year's double major winner is dragging himself into contention here.

Schauffele has a superb record at Augusta and after those two wins last year, if he gets a sniff he'll really fancy his chances.

  20. Postpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -1, Aberg -4, Bhatia -1 (8)

360 yards. That's three football pitches, 11 basketball courts or 14 swimming pools.

A punchy drive from Rory McIlroy who has made mincemeat of the par-four ninth.

Over to your short game Rory - 100 yards to go

(just less than one football pitch...)
