  1. Brilliant birdie from Fleetwoodpublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rahm +2, Clark +4, Fleetwood -3 (11)

Two holes behind Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood is giving it a fist pump as he downs a chip from off the side of the 11th grene.

Magical play from Fleetwood. Two birdies on that hole all day today - one from McIlroy and now Fleetwood joins him.

He'll trundle up to three under for the tournament.

  2. McIlroy moves three back with an eaglepublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -5, Aberg -4, Bhatia +2 (13)

The cheers reverberating around the 13th green reveal that Rory McIlroy has buried his eagle putt.

A stunning second nine puts him just three off the lead.

About half an hour ago, I described Amen Corner as a graveyard.

For Rory, it's been a launchpad.

  3. Postpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -3, Aberg -4, Bhatia +1 (12)

Surprisingly, Rory McIlroy has been off line with his drives on all three of the par fives today.

He's crunching around in the pine straw halfway down 13 but here comes his second shot....

    Oh wow, it's magnificent.

That's a third barely believable approach in four holes - I think he thought he'd hit the water.

Far from it Rory. Your ball has skipped over the tributary that guards the green and left 10 feet for eagle.

Risk-and-reward, hands-over-your-eyes stuff from McIlroy - but he could seriously cash in!

  4. Postpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -4, Matsuyama -2 (11)

Bryson DeChambeau can't close the gap on Justin Rose as he comes up short with his second shot to 11, even dicing a bit with the water but manages to get down in two well enough for a par.

  5. Postpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -4, Thomas +1, Ballester +4 (1)

A stress-free start for Scottie Scheffler and Co, who walk away with three pars.

The world number one had a look at birdie from 20 feet but his ball doesn't quite have the juice to reach, pulling up a few inches short.

  6. Bogey for Rose - lead back to onepublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -8 (17)

It is indeed a dropped shot for Justin Rose on 17 as he doesn't hit his par save hard enough and it trickles down the hill ending up short.

The lead is back down to one.

  7. Hojgaard bounces backpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 11 April

    R Hojgaard -4 (14)

Laser-guided stuff from Rasmus Hojgaard as he skips his second in to two feet on the 14th and taps in for a three to reclaim the shot he lost a few minutes back.

  8. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 11 April

    McCarty -5 (68)

Oh, what a shame for Matt McCarty - he's finished with a bogey on the last.

Still, when he sits down in the locker room to take off his spikes, he will reflect positively on what has been a stunning round.

The 27-year-old leftie started double bogey-bogey then rattled in six birdies between the sixth and 13th.

Two more birdies on 15 and 17 holes moved him right into contention.

What a place to be on your Masters debut.

  9. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -9 (16)

Justin Rose is in danger of handing a shot right back on 17 after finding the front bunker and leaving himself short sided with no green to work with.

He just has to splash it out and now faces a long par putt.

  10. Hatton prepares to tee offpublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 11 April

    Spieth +1, Hatton -3, T Kim +1 (18:34 BST)

We've mentioned Rory McIlroy is up to three under par.

England's Tyrrell Hatton is already there - and he's about to get his round under way.

He was very impressive on day one, only a late bogey costing him a clean card after four birdies.

Plenty of time for him to motor his way up the leaderboard this afternoon.

  11. What's the cut line?published at 18:28 British Summer Time 11 April

A reminder of the cut rules here at the Masters.

Top 50 and ties make the weekend.

At the moment, that line is +2, which means the likes of Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, who are currently on that mark, will need to push for a birdie or two in their closing holes.

  12. McIlroy saves parpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -3, Aberg -4, Bhatia +1 (12)

Important for Rory McIlroy to take advantage of a lucky break at the 12th and he putts from off the green and leaves it four feet from the hole. No way he was chipping that.

It's an important par save to keep momentum.

Kudos too to Akshay Bhatia who shows magnificent hands with his third and, despite water trouble, will walk away with just a bogey.

  13. Postpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 11 April

    Scheffler -4, Thomas +1, Ballester +4 (18:23 BST)

World number one Scottie Scheffler, enjoyed a bogey-free four-under 68 on Thursday but will he fare as well today with the wind picking up around the Augusta National.

The 28-year-old is looking for his third Green Jacket in four years and is also aiming to become the first player to defend the title since Tiger Woods in 2002.

He gets away with a solid drive down the middle of the first fairway and is followed down that route by JT, who has missed the cut in the last two years.

  14. Birdie puts Rose two aheadpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -9 (16)

Justin Rose has handled himself really well since Bryson DeChambeau started to cut into his lead, and that attacking shot on 16 gets the birdie it deserved as he gets back to nine under and moves back into a two-shot lead.

  15. Bogey for Hojgaardpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 11 April

    R Hojgaard -3 (13)

Rasmus Hojgaard is kicking himself after taking on the 13th green with his second but pushing his approach left into the tributary to Rae's Creek.

That's a drop for the Dane, who plays a decent chip to leave a 12-foot putt but ends up taking a bogey six.

  16. Lowry making a movepublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 11 April

    DeChambeau -7, Lowry -4, Matsuyama -2 (10)

Shane Lowry is making a move now with a third birdie in his last five holes with a three on the 10th. Again it's a laser of an iron shot from the 170 yard range that ends up just five feet away.

Lowry moves into T6 on four under and just four off the lead.

And former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama is playing his way into things too with a birdie at 10 to get to two under.

  17. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -2, Aberg -4, Bhatia E (11)

While we were watching Rory McIlroy get away with it at the 12th, playing partner Akshay Bhatia is not as lucky.

His ball just can't cling on and back it rolls, swallowed greedily by Rae's Creek.

  18. McCarty keeping 'em rollingpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 11 April

    McCarty -6 (17)

Golf is all between the ears, right? Matt McCarty is the latest example of how things click into place once the confidence gets rolling.

This time last year he was playing on the Korn Ferry Tour without a win to his name. Then three came at once - and he was bumped up to the PGA Tour.

Now look at him... he's tied third at the Masters!

The 27-year-old American has birdied the 17th to move six under. That's two behind Justin Rose and one off Bryson DeChambeau.

  19. Postpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 11 April

    McIlroy -2, Aberg -4, Bhatia E (11)

Heart in mouth as Rory McIlroy takes aim at the 12th and overhits it.

It bounces off the fringe at the back of the green, rolls up the slope into the pine straw but is immediately spat back out by the undergrowth at the bottom of Amen Corner.

It'll be a niggly up and down coming back - but it could have been much worse.

  20. Rose attacking the par threespublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 11 April

    Rose -8 (15)

"Down, down!" shouts Justin Rose at his tee shot on the par-three 16th, but he didn't have to as it's allmost perfect and nearly pitches right in the cup!

He's only left with five feet or so for birdie.
