Russell Henley purses his lips at the green on the 10th after another missed chance for a birdie. His putting has not quite been on song today.

  2. 'Wait for the last holes' for a winnerpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 21 July

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup

I think you could go a bit further down the leaderboard (for a potential winner).

They’ve still got some tricky holes to go and as we’ve seen over the few few rounds, 11 and 12 are not easy holes, even 10.

I think we need to wait until we’ve got four or five holes to go.

    Brown E, Scheffler -2 (11)

A hole ahead, Scottie Scheffler has put away a four-foot putt. This one was for par.

The world number one has navigated the 10th and 11th without any more trouble but is running out of holes five shots back.

Same result for Dan Brown who needs to pick up a shot to secure a top-10 finish.

    Horschel -5, Lawrence -7 (9)

"Argh, Billy!" exclaims Horschel as he screws his second shot at the 10th.

It scuttles to the right of the green and he'll be needing one of his excellent up and downs from yesterday to make par.

As for Thriston Lawrence, there's no drama as he finds the green, albeit some way back from the pin.

  5. Rahm 'in a bit of a bad mood'published at 16:34 British Summer Time 21 July

    Rahm -1 (17)

Tom English, son of BBC reporter Tom English, is out on the links, enjoying his first Open Championship and he's just messaged the following words to his dad.

"Jon Rahm's just high-fived me. It was kind of half-hearted though. He's in a bit of a bad mood."

  6. Who can stay the course?published at 16:33 British Summer Time 21 July

    The OpenImage source, Getty Images

We've all played those horse racing arcade machines, right? Well, due to how hard this course is that pretty much sums up the final furlongs of this race for the Claret Jug.

We've seen the likes of Rahm, Lowry and even Scheffler get on a run but then get stopped in their tracks - much like the outsiders on our arcade machines who just freeze as the plodding favourite comes through to win.

The question is, who can stay the course at Royal Troon today?

  7. Scott wins Silver Medalpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 21 July

    C Scott +8 (76)

A huge ovation for Scotland's Calum Scott as he makes his way to the 18th green.

A five over-par round today, but he's done enough to win the Silver Medal as the amateur with the lowest score after four rounds.

Winners in the past 30 years include Matt Fitzpatrick, Rory McIlroy and a chap called Justin Rose...

    Rose -6 (10)

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup

This is what Justin still practises for and grinds away for, to be in these positions on the back nine on a Sunday at a major.

  9. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 21 July

    Horschel -5, Lawrence -7 (9)

No signs of nerves from Thriston Lawrence as he stripes another one down the hardest hole on the course.

We're hearing the wind has died down a touch, which could help the leaders navigate this tricky stretch.

Billy Horschel needs to reel in his playing partner if that maiden major title is coming his way.

He's smoked it down the fairway too.

  10. Pars to start back ninepublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 21 July

    Rose -6, Schauffele -5 (10)

A safety-first par for Justin Rose after his approach landed a mile away on the green, but it's Xander Schauffele kicking himself this time as he had 13 feet and a good chance for birdie after watching Rose's putt but could just not convert.

  11. Bogey for Lowrypublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 21 July

    Lowry -3 (11)

    Shane LowryImage source, Getty Images

A setback for Shane Lowry as he bogeys the 11th.

After a poor tee shot he's back on the fairway but fails to sinks an eight-foot putt to secure par.

  12. Lawrence moves into outright leadpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 21 July

    Horschel -5, Lawrence -7 (9)

    Thriston LawrenceImage source, Getty Images

Completely dead eye from Thriston Lawrence, whose ferocious approach at the ninth is rewarded with a confident birdie putt.

He's out on his own in front.

Partner Billy Horschel was never on line from distance and needs to tuck in from four feet for par. Two shots back.

  13. Postpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 21 July

    Horschel -5, Lawrence -6 (8)

The outsider on that leaderboard has to be Thriston Lawrence but he's not playing like it.

That's a phenomenal shot into the ninth green and he'll have five feet to take the outright lead.

  14. The most dangerous spot on the course?published at 16:20 British Summer Time 21 July

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at Royal Troon

There might only be a dozen or so spectators brave, or perhaps foolish enough, to stand down the right of the 11th hole in the hitting zone.

Railway, so called because of the Glasgow to Ayr train track that runs alongside the hole, is a brute.

Many a player has carved their opener onto the tracks and many more have flirted, their ball finding thickets of grass, or the prickly gorse just inside the course boundary - as Shane Lowry and Adam Scott both did, their balls coming to rest no more than a foot apart.

The punters standing in the firing line are getting great views of the players hacking out, but they must be sadists for wanting to stand there and duck and cover almost every other shot.

I also wonder how they decide who will marshal that spot.

  15. A gruesome back nine starts herepublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 21 July

10th hole - playing the hardest today

11th hole - the second hardest

12th hole - the fourth hardest

We could see some fireworks over the next half hour or so.

  17. 'Scheffler will try to kick on'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 21 July

    Scheffler -2 (10)

    Dan Bradbury
English golfer playing on the European Tour

It’s a tough course (for Scheffler). You’ll have a lot of six, seven, eight foots for par so to make it good on here to start the back nine, he’ll be using that to keep trying to kick on.

    Horschel -5, Lawrence -6 (8)

Billy Horschel, with West Ham scorecard holder in hand, thanks the crowd as he walks to the ninth tee. He must be raging with himself…

A completely unpredictable Open championship heading down the back nine and about five or six in contention. What a way to spend a Sunday. Can’t wait for the next few hours.

    Jar

I'd rather feel the thorn than to never see the Rose winning at Troon.

    Greg

Very good Greg. You know I love a pun.

    Lowry -4 (10)

Shane Lowry begins the back nine with a par but lands in the rough with his tee shot on the 11th leaving himself with quite a bit to do to save par.
