Justin Rose pumps a clenched fist high into the air as he rolls in a 13-foot birdie put on the Postage Stamp to join Billy Horschel in the lead.

    Fantastic putt from the Englishman.

  2. Postage Stamppublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 21 July

    Rose -5, Schauffele -5 (7)

Onto the Postage Stamp, which is only playing 100 yards today and is the shortest hole in Open Championship history but also one of the most dangerous.

The front flag today is a tempter, but both Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele find the dancefloor safely enough.

It's not always the case though....

Strangely short from Scottie Scheffler at the ninth as he leaves his ball off the front of the green.

It looked like he would be in better shape, given his lie off the tee.

Six of the past seven players through the seventh hole have birdied it. And now add to that Xander Schauffele.

This par, while an excellent two-putt from around 50 feet, may well feel like a big miss for Justin Rose though.

What a putt from Billy Horschel. Nailed in the middle of the cup and he's the first to reach six under par.

Disappointment for Thriston Lawrence though as his ball holds up inches from dropping.

  6. Xander joins the partypublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 21 July

    Rose -5, Schauffele -5 (7)

The birdies are flying in now, with Xander Schauffele sinking that tricky little eight-footer to pick up back-to-back shots and join the leaders on five under.

Our final group grabbed birdies at the par-five fourth and they're in the market to repeat the trick at six.

Billy Horschel spins his third shot to leave 16 feet for birdie and Thriston Lawrence goes even closer.

He'll have nine feet to move to six under par.

First major error from Justin Rose of the day as he's wide left of the seventh fairway in the hay, and has to just dig it out to the front of the green from 83 yards. Just a damage limitation job on this hole.

Xander Schauffele was in position A++ off the tee though, and he'll have hoped to have done better than eight feet past the flag from just 63 yards. Still a birdie chance though.

By the way, how good is Billy Horschel’s posture? He’s got the bearing of one of those old Hollywood film stars.

Mind you, he’s not best pleased that the marshals up ahead have permitted punters to cross the fairway on the sixth while he sizes up his second shot.

    This is boiling up nicely.

We've got seven players within one shot of the lead.

    Here he goes.

Can Scottie Scheffler follow Shane Lowry with a birdie at the eighth and join the jostle in fourth place behind the leaders?

    You bet he can.

    The shark is circling.

It's disappointment for Dan Brown though as a sand trap causes him a dropped shot.

  12. Lowry birdiespublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 21 July

Shane Lowry sinks a birdie putt at the Postage Stamp. Another clenched fist as the crowd roars. He's right up in amongst it now.

Lowry made 77 in the third round, and according to golf stats man Justin Ray, external the last player to win a major with a third round of 77 or greater was Nick Faldo at the 1989 Masters.

The last to do it at an Open was Fred Daly in 1947.

Postage Stamp time for the world number one and he's spat his tee shot onto the putting surface.

Eight feet for birdie is just the type of distance he's been struggling with - but it would really ignite his challenge today.

We know that when Lowry has been hot at this Open, he has been hot, and if he keeps this streak going, then he is going to be a serious issue for those at the top of the leaderboard.

  16. Birdies for Scheffler and Brownpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 21 July

How often does Scottie Scheffler make the perfect response to a dropped shot?

Lasered down the fairway, wedged inside two feet and tapped in. Laughably good.

Oh and Dan Brown has done exactly the same.

    They've decimated the seventh hole.

  17. Birdie for Schauffelepublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 21 July

    Rose -5, Schauffele -4 (6)

It's a nice approach from Justin Rose to the sixth green, not a great one though so it's only an outside chance from 17 feet for birdie, which doesn't drop.

Rose holds his mouth as he thought he'd made that one that he had to bash up the hill, but it just missed on the left.

Xander Schauffele, though, hits a much better approach to only around six feet, and he rolls that in for his first birdie of the day to move just a shot off the lead.

Shane Lowry and Adam Scott both find the green at the Postage Stamp with their balls no more than six inches apart from each other.

    Birdie chances for the pair.

If these two fellas are feeling any pressure, they’re not showing it yet. Billy Horschel’s bunker shot was astonishingly good, then Thriston Lawrence was similarly cute with his chip.

    On we go…

Majestic from Billy Horschel who almost holes his bunker shot on the fifth.

In comes Thriston Lawrence too as he bumps and runs to within spitting distance.

    Beautiful control from the pair.
