If you're a statto like me it's fascinating to see just where our contenders' strengths are. Looking at the numbers, all of them have shone in different areas.

But what will win the day? Scheffler's iron play, Horschel's driving, Lowry and Henley hitting greens, Thomas making birdies or Brown sinking putts....

    Leaders:

    • Driving accuracy: Billy Horschel (32/42 fairways)
    • Greens in regulation: Shane Lowry/Russell Henley (38/54)
    • Strokes Gained Approach: Scottie Scheffler (+8.017)
    • Strokes Gained Putting: Daniel Brown (+7.841)
    • Scrambling: Thriston Lawrence (5/6)
    • Most Birdies: Justin Thomas (16)
    • Bogeys or worse: Justin Rose (just 4)

Rahm is looking happier again on the golf course.

I think he struggled coming back and playing in the majors after going to the LIV tour but he looks like he's got a bit of a swagger back and he could be one to watch in this next hour or two.

I say there have not been that many movers but I hadn't reckoned with Jon Rahm.

The 2023 Masters champion has kept vaguely in touch all week and has put his foot down early on today.

Three birdies in his first three holes and suddenly he ain't too far back.

Playing partner Alex Noren is also motoring - he's got two birdies in three to be back at level par for the tournament.

Billy Horschel and Justin Rose bossed the backwards cap look yesterday to keep drips out of their eyes.

Today, it'll be more about holding onto their hats, given the strength of wind down the South Ayrshire coast.

When we logged on yesterday, there were some seriously low scores out there - today Ryan Fox and Corey Conners have rattled round in -3 but we're not seeing the same fireworks across the leaderboard.

As Sunday dawned over Royal Troon, the heavy rain of Saturday had blown through and the sun was peeking through the clouds.

The greenskeepers were out early, ensuring the course would be in pristine condition for the denouement of the 152nd Open Championship.

'Take a bow!' - Rose and Scheffler star in shots of day three

It was quite the day on Saturday.

We had a hole-in-one when Si Woo Kim found the cup from 238 yards at the 17th. That was the longest we've since Open records began in 1981 - and the first known on that hole at Royal Troon.

Thriston Lawrence and Sam Burns shot the rounds of the day with a pair of 65s and thrust themselves into the thick of this tournament.

The par-four 11th was the hardest hole with a stroke average of 4.66. Lawrence and Burns were the only two to birdie it, with 39 pars, and 39 bogeys or worse, including a grisly nine for Joaquin Niemann.

Only Scotland's Ewen Ferguson went bogey free, making one birdie and 17 pars.

Only Shane Lowry of the top 12 players in the leaderboard overnight has won The Open before.

So there's every chance we'll get a first-time Open champion lifting the Claret Jug this evening, for the 11th staging in a row, which would tie the previous record run between 1994 and 2004.

Which player will be adding their name to the top of this list later today?
