Things keep getting better for the McIlroy family.

Tell his dad Gerry that Tottenham have sneaked a late equaliser against Wolves.

(Sorry to those of you trying to escape football for once...)

    Bethpage Black?

    Bethpage BLUE!

Now let’s not get too giddy but… Europe have only swept a session once before in the US. Muirfield Village in 1987.

    Just saying.

  3. 'Nail in the coffin'published at 21:52 BST 27 September

    Scheffler/DeChambeau v Fleetwood/Rose 3UP (14)

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup on BBC Radio 5 Live

That’s just about a nail in the coffin – three down with four to go.

The Europeans are playing so well, they’re not even giving them a chance to get back into the match.

They've come out and just delivered their points.

  4. 'McIlroy is re-energised'published at 21:52 BST 27 September

    Thomas/Young v McIlroy/Lowry 1UP (14)

    Shaun Micheel
2003 US PGA Championship winner on BBC Radio 5 Live at Bethpage Black

It was said earlier that Rory looked a bit jaded. Now look at him.

    He is re-energised.

It looked like he was just grinding and trying to get through the day. But after that putt before he was pointing and first pumping.

  5. Postpublished at 21:52 BST 27 September

    Schauffele/Spaun v Rahm/Straka 1UP (12)

A very smart pitch from JJ Spaun at the 13th as he cosies his ball up to within six feet of the pin.

Oh and gets a kick from his playing partner Xander Schauffele, whose equally well-judged ball nudges into Spaun's and moves it a touch closer.

Good opportunities incoming for the Americans here.

  6. Postpublished at 21:52 BST 27 September

    Thomas/Young v McIlroy/Lowry 1UP (14)

A brilliant chip out of the rough from Rory McIlroy after he was given a free drop gets him on the green with the rest of the players in match one.

Justin Thomas sinks a birdie from just off the green to pile the pressure on Shane McIlroy and Lowry.

  7. Postpublished at 21:51 BST 27 September

    DeChambeau/Scheffler v Fleetwood/Rose 3UP (14)

Bryson DeChambeau did not look settled over that putt at all. He shuffled his feet right up to the second he took the putterhead back.

His putter has been cold all day.

  8. Postpublished at 21:50 BST 27 September

    DeChambeau/Scheffler v Fleetwood/Rose 3UP (14)

Europe's English pair are three up with four to play against the two big names of the US side.

It's not quite Monty and Harrington taking down Tiger and Phil in 2004, but it's in the same ballpark.

  9. 'Calm figure among the chaos'published at 21:48 BST 27 September

    Scheffler/DeChambeau v Fleetwood/Rose 3UP (14)

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

Calm figure in amongst the chaos.

You could actually see a physical long intake of breath there (from Rose).

  10. Europe three uppublished at 21:48 BST 27 September

    DeChambeau/Scheffler v Fleetwood/Rose 3UP (14)

And Justin Rose says back to Tommy Fleetwood 'nice shot Tommy lad but I'll just knock this in to save you the trouble'!

Rose converts from 16 feet for a two.

Now Bryson DeChambeau needs to tidy up for his two in order to half the hole.

Massive push, on such a short putt, from him. It misses on the right and that's three up to Europe.

  11. Postpublished at 21:47 BST 27 September

    Burns/Cantlay v Fitzpatrick/Hatton 1UP (12)

Tyrrell Hatton has a 23-foot putt to pinch the hole on the 12th but that slips past.

The European duo just can't get any daylight between themselves and Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen as many people inside the ropes at a golf match.

Tens here. Probably well into three figures.

Golfers, parents, partners, pop stars, sport stars, reporters, broadcasters, photographers, influencers…

  13. Postpublished at 21:45 BST 27 September

    Thomas/Young v McIlroy/Lowry 1UP (14)

Fresh off the back of going one up on the 14th hole, Rory McIlroy is cursing again. This time not for a good reason as the Northern Irishman's drive from the tee box on the 15th ends up somewhere near the grandstands.

  14. Get involvedpublished at 21:44 BST 27 September

Chloe: Europe is MAGA. Making American Golfers Agitated.

David: You were repeatedly warned USA, don’t poke the bear and McIlroy is our golden one

Sue: Great radio commentary that is bringing this amazing competition to life. So impressed with the way Rory Mac is holding it all together - Kipling's poem 'If' could have been written for just this moment in his life.

Paul: Quick, get the blue paint out to Bethpage as they’re running out for the scoreboards

David: The energy spent on negative chants might be better spent on cheering for their own team. Its clearly only inspiring Europe. At this rate, the only red the US will see will be the back of the European shirts as they walk off into the sunset.

  15. Postpublished at 21:42 BST 27 September

    DeChambeau/Scheffler v Fleetwood/Rose 2UP (13)

Scottie Scheffler hits his wedge to 15 feet. Modest.

But Bryson DeChambeau pops Scheffler on his back again and finesses his tee shot to about four feet.

That was close to game over if he hadn't hit that close.

US likely to escape with a half and stay just two down after 14.

  16. 'Rose used slope perfectly'published at 21:42 BST 27 September

    Scheffler/DeChambeau v Fleetwood/Rose 2UP (13)

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup on BBC Radio 5 Live

The tension out here is unbelievable now but that was a great shot. Rose used the slope behind the pin perfectly,

  17. Postpublished at 21:39 BST 27 September

    DeChambeau/Scheffler v Fleetwood/Rose 2UP (13)

Justin Rose keeps the metaphorical European foot on the US neck with a short iron to 10 feet on the par-three 14th.

Tommy Fleetwood says 'thanks JR, but we can do better than that'.

And feathers his tee shot to three feet.

Nine birdies between this pair across 13 holes. Could be another one coming up.

Does he like that? Does he like that!

McIlroy - for the first time today - pops the emotional cork and everything fizzes out.

He jumps for joy as he skips over to Lowry, then windmills his arms as he struts off to the 15th tee.

Advantage Europe. Let’s see if they can hold it on the stretch…

  19. Postpublished at 21:38 BST 27 September

    Four blue matches

What a few minutes for Europe!

  20. 'Now he lets out the emotion'published at 21:38 BST 27 September

    Thomas/Young v McIlroy/Lowry 1UP (14)

    John Murray
BBC Radio 5 Live golf commentator

There is the putt from McIlroy. He has been waiting all afternoon for it.

Now he lets out the emotion.

That was quite the outpouring of emotion from McIlroy and he gets a big pat on the back from Shane Lowry.
