    Germany coach Joachim Loew will get a chance to test some young players when his team faces Poland in a World Cup warm-up match on Tuesday. Loew will cut several players from his preliminary 30-man squad after the match and the trimmed group will travel to a training camp in Italy ahead of next month's tournament. Loew will then announce the final 23-man squad. Because of various club commitments, neither Germany nor Poland will be up to full strength for Tuesday's match in Hamburg.

    West Bromwich Albion manager Pepe Mel will hold talks with chairman Jeremy Peace in the next 48 hours and all the indications are that the Spaniard will leave the club, according to the Times newspaper., external

    Mel was appointed by the Baggies on an 18-month contract in January. West Brom ended a disappointing season with a 2-1 home defeat by Stoke City, a result which saw them finish 17th in the table, three points above the relegation zone.

    The Pakistan Cricket Board says Mushtaq Ahmed leaves his role as England spin-bowling coach to join them. Mushtaq played 52 Tests for Pakistan and will join their coaching set-up immediately.

    He had been working with England for the past six years but now joins a list of departures following last winter's 5-0 Ashes defeat in Australia. Coach Andy Flower and batting coach Graham Gooch have left, while batsman Kevin Pietersen is not available.

    Cardiff owner Vincent Tan blames former manager Malky Mackay for the club's relegation from the Premier League. Cardiff sacked Mackay last December with the club one point above the relegation zone.

    Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed his replacement but was unable to save the club from going down.

    "Why wouldn't you blame him (Mackay) for relegation? He took this club to the Championship," Tan says in an interview with Wales Online., external "If I had not invested, he couldn't have (won promotion). Why didn't he earn promotion with Watford? He was their manager for two years, finishing 14th and then maybe 16th."

    Manchester City are Premier League champions and their second title in three seasons has made front page as well as back page headlines in Monday's national newspapers.
