Sunderland boss Gus Poyet says he is "trying his best" to bring striker Fabio Borini to the Stadium of Light. The manager says he thinks there is "still a great chance" of completing a permanent deal for the Italian, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland from Liverpool.

Poyet also wants to keep hold of Connor Wickham, who has been linked with West Ham. The boss praised the striker's "incredible" pre-season, and says he remains "part of his plans".

And what does the Uruguayan think of compatriot Luis Suarez's four-month ban for biting? "I think it's gone a little bit too far," Poyet says. "It's unfair on the clubs more than the player himself."

Interestingly - despite Richard Scudamore's comments this morning on the return to strength of Manchester United - few of you are backing them to be title challengers this season.

Phil, in Leicester: I think Man City with their depth and quality will win the league, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool second, third and fourth respectively. The bottom three will be Crystal Palace, Southampton (as they have lost nearly all of their key players) and QPR.

Danny, in Wakefield: Top four - Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool whilst Hull, West Brom and Leicester dropping down to the Championship.

Rob, in Brighton: I really am surprised that Liverpool are being written off so readily. They took apart Dortmund and looked good against United. I see them knocking at the door, at least top three.
