  3. 'Warnock has Palace's interests at heart'published at 16:56 British Summer Time 28 August 2014

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has been talking about his former Selhurst Park manager Neil Warnock returning to Crystal Palace.

"I was pleased for Palace that Neil Warnock was named manager," Clyne tells BBC Radio Solent.

"He has the club's best interests at heart. When I was there he gave me my opportunity to play in the first team so for the youngsters there it will be good for them. He has experience and is good at getting the best out of players and hopefully he will do well at Palace."

Swansea City manager Garry Monk wants Roy Hodgson to attend the Liberty Stadium after none of his players were called up by the England manager for two forthcoming internationals.

Hodgson named four uncapped players in his 22-man squad but overlooked the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Nathan Dyer who have impressed as Swansea won their opening two games in the Premier League.

"I know he's never been here to the Liberty Stadium to watch them as England manager and he'd have to come and watch us first before he can pick anyone," said Monk ahead of West Brom's visit on Saturday. "If they work hard there's no excuse not to try and look at them."

A favourable draw for the 2005 winners could see them playing Porto (Portugal), Basel (Switzerland) and Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria).

The worst possible outcome would have them lining up against Real Madrid (Spain), Paris St-Germain (France) and Roma (Italy).

    Ben Smith
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

"The lasting impression of that press conference was the obvious pride and delight that was written across Louis van Gaal's face throughout.

"He spoke at the start to reiterate that his new £60m signing must be a team player and with every answer Di Maria echoed that sentiment, so much so that Van Gaal actually mentioned how impressed he was by his new player's answers as the press conference went on.

"Di Maria said he had spoken to Ronaldo about the significance of the number seven shirt and the impression he gave out was that he was very much revelling in his role as Britain's most expensive footballer."

A great draw for Manuel Pellegrini's side would see them facing Porto (Portugal), Athletic Bilbao (Spain) and Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria).

However, there will be no smiles if the draw sees them grouped with Real Madrid (Spain), CSKA Moscow (Russia) and Roma (Italy)

"We've seen the new-look men's four dominate every race they've done this season," she says. "They're talking very confidently and they feel they've improved in speed since we last saw them at the Lucerne World Cup.

"The exciting thing is, they are talking about how this could be the fastest men's four Britain have ever had which is quite a statement considering the success we have had in the event, winning gold at the last four Olympics."

"I'm sorry to say that for the fans because they are amazing. We lost 4-0 at MK Dons and they were singing and supporting the players. It's fantastic that we have such fans and I hope we shall fulfil their expectations, but it's not done in one month."
