    Breel Embolo became one of the youngest scorers in Champions league history last night but this morning he was back at his apprenticeship working as a clerk for the Football Association in Switzerland.

    The 17-year-old Basel scored the opener in Basel's 4-0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad.

    Florian Raz below, Sports Editor at the TagesWoche newspaper in Basel, told BBC World: "He went to school at 8 o'clock in the morning because he's doing a commercial apprenticeship.

    "He works some of the time as a clerk at the office of the Football Association and the odd time he's in school and then he plays football."

    Looks like Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock will have less 'spends' this week after being fined £9,000 by the FA.

    The fine comes following post-match comments about referee Craig Pawson after the 2-1 home Barclays Premier League defeat by Chelsea on 18October 18.

    The Eagles boss, 65, had said referee Craig Pawson was "influenced" by Chelsea players in the decision to send off Damien Delaney for a second yellow card.

    Warnock denied the charge and had requested a personal hearing, which was held on Wednesday.

    Jade Etherington - Britain's most successful woman in Winter Paralympic history - has announced her retirement, along with her guide, Caroline Powell.

    The visually-impaired skier and Powell won four medals - three silver and a bronze - at the Winter Paralympics in Sochi earlier this year.

    Luis Suarez admits he would have considered retiring if he had slipped in the Chelsea game like Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard did.

    Former England flanker Richard Hill views Saturday's opener with New Zealand as the pivotal fixture of the QBE Series.

    "If I was involved with England I'd be looking at New Zealand because it's the game that will set the tone for November," Hill said.

    "It's the game that has the ability to galvanise supporters and provide a huge confidence boost going into a four-match series."

    What a difference a few days can make in football. Less than two weeks ago, Birmingham City were licking their wounds from an 8-0 home hammering by Bournemouth, but four points from two games under new manager Gary Rowett has lifted some of the gloom around St Andrew's.

    Blues remain in the Championship's bottom three despite last night's 2-1 win over previous leaders Watford, but Rowett has seen enough from his players to suggest they will soon be heading up the table.

    He told BBC WM 95.6: "What's greatly enthused me is that I've seen just a little bit of what I think the team can achieve. They certainly shouldn't be fearful about the rest of the games. We haven't achieved anything at all yet but it's a good start."

    Good news for Rafael Nadal fans. The world number three is out of hospital, two days after surgery to remove his appendix.

    The Spaniard, 28, confirmed on 24 October that he would not play again in 2014 as he required an operation.

    The 14-time Grand Slam title winner has played only seven matches since Wimbledon and began taking antibiotics in October to treat appendicitis.
