    Fabio Capello has declined to comment on speculation that he is about to lose his job as manager of Russia after a run of poor results.

    The 68-year-old, reportedly the highest paid coach at the World Cup with a salary of around £5.6m, has been under fire since Russia failed to qualify for the second round in Brazil.

    On Saturday, Russia lost 1-0 in Austria, which promoted the country's sports minister Vitaly Mutko to say he would "resolve issues" soon.

    Asked about it, Capello didn't say much, replying: "I don't have any information about that."

    News of a big signing for Arsenal. No, Arsene Wenger hasn't done some early work ahead of the January transfer window - it is Arsenal Ladies who have snapped up a big name.

    England forward Lianne Sanderson, 26, returns to the Gunners after a spell playing in the USA.

    Sanderson, who has scored 13 goals in 40 games for England, won five league titles, four FA Women's Cups and the Uefa Women's Cup in her first spell at Arsenal.

    More on the breaking news that Ofcom has launched an investigation into the selling of the Premier League's domestic broadcast rights (see 09:26).

    Virgin Media is the complainant behind the investigation after claiming that not enough top-flight matches are made available for live screening.

    Ofcom, the regulating body for the UK communications industry, said it understood the importance of 15:00 GMT kick-offs on Saturdays to football fans and will be speaking to supporters' groups.

    Everton boss Roberto Martinez says he still does not know how long England left-back Leighton Baines will be sidelined with a slight hamstring injury.

    The 29-year-old withdrew from the Three Lions squad after injuring himself in training ahead of Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia.

    "Scans revealed Leighton has a grade one hamstring injury," says the Spaniard. "Those injuries depend on the individual and how quickly they can heal.

    "Leighton is responding well to treatment. It is too early to say how long he is going to be out but we remain very positive."

    An investigation into how the Premier League sells its domestic broadcast rights for matches has been launched by Ofcom.

    Ofcom, the body which regulates the UK communications industry, received a complaint from Virgin Media in September.

    "Ofcom may conduct an investigation where there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that there is an agreement which has as its object or effect the prevention, restriction or distortion of competition within the UK and/or the EU," it said.

    Former Scotland defender David Weir, who played against England in the Euro 2000 qualifying play-off, believes both sets of players will be able to handle the atmosphere at tonight's friendly.

    "Of course it is only a friendly, but it is still a massive occasion," he tells BBC Radio 5 live.

    "You have got to try approach the game professionally and try to play well. It is the team who plays best that wins rather than the team which is more passionate. But they will match each other in terms of passion tonight."

    Former Leicester City and Aston Villa manager Brian Little has been appointed as the Jersey Football Association's new director of football.

    Little, 60, has not held a managerial position since leaving Gainsborough Trinity in 2011.

    "I have had a number of opportunities to return to football management, but the offers have not felt right, until I met with the JFA and this one arose," said Little, who also managed West Bromwich Albion, Darlington, Stoke, Hull, Tranmere and Wrexham.

    While Roy Hodgson has Scotland on his mind, another England coach is pondering how to pick his players up and return to winning ways.

    Stuart Lancaster, to be exact, who has denied his team are in crisis but admits they must recapture momentum quickly in time for the 2015 World Cup.

    Saturday's 31-28 loss to South Africa was England's fifth defeat in a row.

    "Losing knocks momentum," said Lancaster, whose side next face Samoa. "We can't sit and feel sorry for ourselves.

    "I accept the clock is ticking but I don't buy that this will define how the World Cup will go."

    A clash between the Auld Enemy really doesn't need spicing up. But Scotland skipper Scott Brown is clearly taking no chances.

    In a remarkable interview in today's Daily Record,, external Brown says he is - and this is the polite version - 'cheesed off' that the English 'couldn't care less about Scottish football'.

    "We know the English really don't bother about us. they have this sense of superiority that comes with thinking how much better they are than us," he said.

    "And that's why we go into a game like this absolutely bursting to prove a point."

    Pakistan claimed wickets before lunch to reduce New Zealand to 295-6 on the second day of the second test.

    Corey Anderson and overnight century-maker Tom Latham both played loose drives against the Pakistan seamers and departed in the first three overs, before James Neesham chipped to short midwicket off legspinner Yasir Shah (2-70).

    New Zealand resumed at a healthy overnight 243-3 but Latham - who had batted beautifully throughout the first day - couldn't add to his overnight 137 before Rahat Ali found the outside edge off a full pitched delivery.

    Pakistan lead the three-Test series 1-0.

    Take your pick really, for world number six Sergio Garcia has announced that he has roped in former French Open tennis champion Juan Carlos Ferrero as his caddie fornext month's Thailand Open.

    Ferrero, also Spanish, topped the tennis rankings in 2003 after winning the French Open and retired in 2012 after 14 years on the men's tour.

    "I've played golf with him many times but he never caddied for me before," Garcia said. "We just talked about it and decided to do it. He is excited about it."

    Garcia, aiming to defend his title in Thailand, will face stiff competition at the Dec 11-14 event with twice US Masters champion Bubba Watson, US Open champion Martin Kaymer and former world number ones Lee Westwood and Ernie Els.

    The first ever match between the sides was at Hamilton Crescent in Glasgow in November 1872. It wasn't a thriller, finishing 0-0.
