    Heskey has 118 goals in English league football, 62 international caps, two league cups, an FA Cup and a Uefa Cup to his name.

    Gudjohnsen has 97 league goals in his career, 78 international caps and a plethora of league honours, not to mention a Champions League medal.

    England batsman Nick Compton has described Michael Clarke's tribute to Phil Hughes as "very special".

    The Australia cricket captain broke down in tears as he spoke about his friend and team-mate at the batsman's funeral.

    Compton, who used to share a house with Hughes and was at the funeral, told BBC World Service: "I was standing at the bar with him an hour ago and he said he has given everything.

    "He spoke from the heart and the fact that his spirit will stay with us for ever is very special."

    Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has accepted he should have named a goalkeeper on the bench against Wrexham, after defender Mark McChrystal ended up in goal for 50 minutes of Tuesday's 0-0 draw.

    McChrystal, who took the gloves when Steve Mildenhall was forced off with a knee injury, helped keep a clean sheet against 10 men.

    "I'll hold my hands up and say we should have had a keeper on the bench," Clarke told BBC Radio Bristol. "I've done it a lot of times, where I haven't put one on the bench, but it's now something I'll have to look at."

    Professional footballers and cricketers are three times more likely to have a gambling problem than other young men, according to new research.

    Published at the Professional Players' Federation (PPF) conference in Edgbaston, the research shows 6.1% of professional sportsmen would be classed as "problem gamblers" compared to 1.9% of men in the general population.

    PPF chairman Brendon Batson described the findings as "worrying". "Sportsmen are a clear 'at risk' group and the whole of professional sport has a duty of care to these young men," he added.

    As we highlighted earlier, two-time champion Ding Junhui was humbled by 18-year-old James Cahill at the UK Championship on Tuesday night.

    The world number 100 put together a break of 56 in the final frame to win 6-5 having led 5-1.

    "When I missed the chance to win 6-1, he started coming back at me, and it's the worst feeling in the world," Cahill told World Snooker.

    "In the last frame I expected him to win in one visit, but after he missed I played a solid frame. My family went through the emotions as much as I did."

    Cahill plays world number 19 Mark Davis in the last 16.
