    Skipper Steve Smith led the way with another torrent of runs as Australia raced to 251 for six and a lead of 348 over India before rain stopped play at the end of the fourth day of the fourth test overnight on Friday.

    Looking to wrap up the four-match series 3-0, the hosts dismissed India for 475 shortly before tea to take a 97-run first innings lead and then embarked on a fierce assault on the Indian bowlers in a bid to force a result.

    FA chairman Greg Dyke added: "We have reviewed the Ched Evans case in some detail at the FA and we have examined both the legal requirements and our rules and regulations.

    "I would encourage the game to consider and discuss this matter and the prospect for future guidelines or codes of conduct.

    "The FA will certainly be considering it in line with our own ongoing review of what constitutes public or private communications and behaviour."

    The comments of PFA chief Gordon Taylor have been dominating events so far today.

    Taylor has apologised for comparing the Hillsborough tragedy to the Ched Evans rape case.

    FA chairman Greg Dyke has now spoken on the issue and said there is "no basis for us to intervene directly in this particular case".

    Dyke added: "That said it is important that we continue to look at the issue of behaviour and attitudes within football, and recognise the unique privileges and responsibilities that come with being a participating member of the national game."

    Some interesting news this morning ... it has emerged that former Bayern Munich manager Felix Magath - last seen struggling in the dugout at Fulham - has bought around a 1% stake in Rangers Football Club.

    He purchased the shares late last year, and has held discussions with one of the groups vying for control of the club, but it is not Robert Sarver.

    Magath is said to have no ambition to succeed Ally McCoist as Rangers manager, but does want to rebuild the club's football infrastructure as technical director.

    One Premier League manager who won't be facing the media today is Jose Mourinho.

    The Chelsea boss has decided to give his press conference a swerve after being charged by the FA over his claims that there is a "campaign" to influence referees' decisions against his side.

    A surprising result in the world of tennis overnight, with world number one Novak Djokovic suffering a rare defeat - beaten by Croatia's Ivo Karlovic 6-7 (2-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 in the Qatar Open quarter-finals in Doha.

    In the semi-final, Karlovic will face Spain's David Ferrer, who overcame Germany's Dustin Brown 6-2 6-2.

    Third seed Tomas Berdych from the Czech Republic will face Italy's Andreas Seppi in the other semi.

    More on the breaking news that Gordon Taylor has apologised for his remarks comparing the case of convicted rapist Ched Evans to the Hillsborough tragedy.

    "The last thing I intended to do was to upset anybody connected to the Hillsborough case," the Professional Footballers' Association chief told BBC Radio Merseyside.

    Gordon Taylor has been in the news after appearing to compare the Ched Evans case with the Hillsborough tragedy.

    After the convicted rapist's move to Oldham collapsed, the Professional Footballers' Association chief executive was asked about Evans's insistence that he is innocent.

    "He wouldn't have been the first person to be found guilty, maintained their innocence and been proved right. We know what happened with Hillsborough," Taylor told BBC Sport.

    "It's now unravelling and very different to how it was portrayed at the time - indeed by the police at the time."
