    Derby County complete the signing of centre-back Raul Albentosa from La Liga side Eibar on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

    Scotland confirm they will face Ireland, Italy and France in a four-match warm-up schedule for the World Cup later this year.

    They will play on four consecutive Saturdays from 15 August, starting with a trip to Dublin. A double header against Italy in Turin and Edinburgh follows before completing their preparations in Paris.

    "Clearly our priority at the moment is the forthcoming Six Nations, however we are pleased to confirm four matches against top-quality international opposition ahead of the World Cup," says Scotland head coach Vern Cotter.

    "The games will allow us to rotate and test a large group of players throughout these preparatory matches in what is the last opportunity for everyone to put their hand up for selection."

    Gusty winds have been blowing across the UK in recent days - and now a Scottish Premiership match has fallen foul of the weather.

    Motherwell's top-flight match against Kilmarnock on Saturday has been postponed because of storm damage at Fir Park.

    Several aluminium facings have blown off the side of the East Stand and continuing snow and high winds have hampered attempts to fix the problems.

    "Sadly, it would be impossible to not only secure the panels that are visibly hanging loose, but also to check all others in the same area in time for kick-off on Saturday," says Motherwell's safety manager, Alan Marshall. "If another fell and hit someone, the consequences would be unthinkable."

    Gloucestershire says they could appoint a head coach to succeed John Bracewell by the time the director of cricket leaves his post.

    The New Zealander, 56, will leave the county side, who he led to the 2002 Division Two title, on 31 January.

    Chief executive Will Brown said interviews will start next week.

    New West Brom boss Tony Pulis continues his shake-up of the backroom team at the Hawthorns.

    After Paul Jewell walked out because he wouldn't take a pay cut to accommodate Gerry Francis, shortly after Rob Kelly, Keith Downing and Dean Kiely departed, two more senior figures have left Albion.

    Head of UK scouting Stuart White and head of European scouting/recruitment Tony Spearing, who been with Albion for a combined 21-year stint, leave by mutual agreement.

    The Foxes had admitted failing to control their players.

    Villa have admitted the same charge but are yet to have their case heard.

    French number one Jo-Wilfried Tsonga admits he regrets playing in the Davis Cup final after aggravating an arm injury that ruled him out of the Australian Open.

    The world number 12 has been forced to withdraw from the opening Grand Slam of the year, which begins in Melbourne on Monday. He was beaten by Stan Wawrinka in November's Davis Cup final where France lost to Switzerland.

    "I should never have played the Davis Cup final," Tsonga is quoted by AFP as telling Europe 1 radio.

    "Knowing all that, obviously I should never have played the final, like I should have not played at all from the month of September to have time to recover from this injury and be fighting fit for the the 2015 season," he said.

    Bristol Academy captain Corinne Yorston leaves the club to join Women's Super League Two side Yeovil Town.

    The Glovers Ladies' have described the 31-year-old England defender as the "biggest signing" in club history.

    Yorston leaves Bristol as the club's longest-serving payer, having spent eight years with the Vixens.

    BBC Sport's Shamoon Hafez: "Joe Perry and Mark Allen are currently level at 3-3 in the quarter-final of the Masters at Alexandra Palace.

    "It's slow going though, with both players playing to a poor standard, missing chance after chance.

    "The winner of this first-to-six match will be relieved to get through, although they are unlikely to trouble the winner of Stephen Maguire and Shaun Murphy (19:00 GMT) in the semi-final."

    Thierry Henry doesn't seem the biggest fan of the Milwaukee Bucks mascot.

    Maybe, as a former New York Red Bull, he was unwilling to fraternise with the enemy as the Bucks took on the Knicks in the NBA game in London last night.

    The big moose thing had the last laugh though. New York went down 95-79 - their 16th defeat in a row.

    A father sticking up for his son after criticism from his boss doesn't usually generate much interest.

    But when the father is ex-England striker Ian Wright, the son is QPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips and the boss is Harry Redknapp, then it is a little more exciting.

    Earlier, QPR boss Redknapp reckoned that 33-year-old Wright-Phillips did not want to leave QPR on loan because he would have to take a pay cut.

    Enter Ian Wright. "Ridiculous statement about not wanting to go on loan!!! You get paid the same money when you're on loan," tweets the Arsenal legend.

    Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter signs a new three-and-a-half year contract with the Championship leaders.

    The 25-year-old, who scored five goals in five league matches in December, has made 28 appearances so far this season.

    "I want to play at the highest level. My best chance is doing that here and I would get the most satisfaction achieving it here," he says.

    Idina Menzel, who sang 'Let It Go' for the film Frozen, will perform the American national anthem before the Super Bowl kicks off next month.

    John Legend will perform 'America the Beautiful' before the match on 1 February in Glendale, Arizona.

    Some good news for QPR fans. In-form striker Charlie Austin, named earlier as December's Premier League player of the month, says he is not looking to leave the Loftus Road club.

    The 25-year-old's contract runs out at the end of next season and Rangers are keen to tie him down to a longer deal.

    "I know some things have been written and said about my contract situation. I've got 18 months left on my contract, I'm in no rush," he says in an online blog. , external

    "I'm leaving that stuff to my agent and the people at the club, and I'm just thinking about my performances on the pitch.

    "The most important thing for you to know is that I'm not thinking about looking elsewhere. I want you all to know I'm happy at QPR."
