  1. 'Substitution not related'published at 08:43 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

All the focus after the Everton game was on the penalty, not the game.

Kevin Mirallas was substituted at half-time, but Toffees boss Roberto Martinez insisted it was nothing to do with the spot kick row.

"Kevin felt his hamstring was getting sensitive. It was a precaution," the Everton boss told BBC Radio 5 live.

"They are not related. The talking point is because we missed it."

  2. Spot of botherpublished at 08:36 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

No doubting what the big story in football is from overnight ... the give-us-that-ball, not-a-chance-mate-I'm-having-it row from Goodison Park.

Kevin Mirallas insisted on taking a penalty during Everton's goalless draw with West Brom, despite the fact regular pen taker Leighton Baines was on the pitch.

Embarrassingly for Mirallas, and very annoyingly for Toffees boss Roberto Martinez, the Belgian dragged it wide.

Bet it was awkward in the dressing room afterwards.

  3. Radcliffe set for last marathonpublished at 08:29 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

    BBC Radio 5 live

Paula Radcliffe is at the BBC Sport hq here in Salford today, giving interviews ahead of her last ever marathon appearance - in London in April.

"I grew up watching the London Marathon, so I have so many happy memories. I've also had times where it was taken away from me so the chance to have one last hard run at it is a nice chance," she told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I'm not under any illusions that I'll be able to complete at the top level of the field. I fully recognise my body is not the same body it was. I'm never going to hang up my running shoes, either. This is the last one I'm going to train full time for, but I'm always going to be running.

"I get that buzz and it just brightens my day. I remember after the foot surgery the first time I went for a run, the difference it made."

  4. England v India, live nowpublished at 08:22 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

England are taking on India in the ODI tri-series in Brisbane today and are - at the risk of tempting fate - doing very nicely indeed.

After bowling India out for 153 in 39.3 overs - an inspired Steven Finn finishing with figures of 5-33 - England are currently zooming along at 95-1.

Bell is 55 not out, with James Taylor on 36, with only 19 overs gone. You can follow the action live on the BBC website here.

  6. Coming up today...published at 08:14 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is giving a news conference at 13:00 GMT. His team face Sheffield United at White Hart Lane tomorrow in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg.

Gus Poyet and new signing Jermaine Defoe are facing the media at 13:30.

We'll cover both press conferences - and will build-up to the Liverpool-Chelsea semi at Anfield tonight throughout the course of the day.

  7. 'I struggled for energy' - Watsonpublished at 08:09 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

The demise of Heather Watson was the most surprising, given that the 22-year-old had come into the tournament on the back of winning the Hobart International at the weekend - her second WTA title.

Watson suffered a recurrence of a condition that leaves her lacking energy during her defeat to Tsvetana Pironkova.

"On Monday I woke up not feeling that great, just kind of bloated and weak and not that good, and I feel like that today," she said. "I just struggled on the court to have energy."

Watson is confident it isn't a return of the glandular fever she suffered from in 2013. Let's hope not.

  8. Brit trio crash outpublished at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

Brace yourselves ... Britain's players suffered a disappointing day two at the Australian Open as Heather Watson, James Ward and Kyle Edmund all lost.

Ward, the British number two, came closest to victory but went down 2-6 6-0 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 to Spain's Fernando Verdasco.

British number one Watson lost 6-4 6-0 to Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova, while Edmund was beaten 6-4 6-4 6-3 by American Steve Johnson.

All of which means that despite the fact the tournament is only two-days-old, Andy Murray is the sole British representative left.
