    Mark Cavendish is 86th overall in the Tour de San Luis in Argentina after finishing the fourth stage 14 minutes behind leader Dani Diaz.

    The Manxman earned two second-place finishes in the first three stages but predictably dropped off the pace in the mountainous finish to the fourth of the seven stages.

    The Mail are reporting, external that Manchester City's players will only arrive back home from their training stint in Abu Dhabi at 18:00 GMT - just 21 hours before their FA Cup fourth round meeting with Middlesbrough.

    They add that Manuel Pellegrini's side will train on Friday before boarding the seven-hour flight at 11:00 GMT.

    Little under 500 miles south of Melbourne, England are making a decent fist of their Tri-Series encounter against Australia at the Bellerive Oval.

    Ian Bell became England's top ODI run-scorer with a fine 141, while Joe Root and Moeen Ali contributed 69 and 46 respectively.

    Australia are currently chasing 304 to reach the final and you can follow their efforts with our live text and radio commentary.

    It is a rumour that has rumbled on for a while now, but David De Gea's mooted move from Manchester United to Real Madrid has gathered fresh impetus with Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes refusing to rule out the switch in the Daily Mail., external

    United, too, are considering trying to gazump Arsenal in their attempts to sign Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista, according to the Daily Star, while the Sun reports that Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa.

    Speaking of Murray, he cantered through to a last-16 tie with Grigor Dimitrov after brushing aside Portugal's Joao Sousa 6-1 6-1 7-5.

    The sixth seed hit 39 winners to set up the chance to amend for last summer's Wimbledon defeat by Dimitrov on Sunday.

    The Bulgarian 10th seed, meanwhile, needed five sets to get past Marcos Baghdatis earlier in the day.

    First, let's put some meat on the bones of the early morning tennis news...

    Four-time Australian Open champion and second seed Federer lost 6-4 7-6 4-6 7-6 (7-5) to 30-year-old Seppi, with the world number 46 recording his first win over the 17-time Grand Slam champion in 11 attempts.

    It's also worth noting that Federer was in Murray's quarter of the draw, meaning they were slated to meet in the last eight.
