"I have had such a fantastic time at QPR," says Redknapp.

"Sadly I need immediate surgery on my knee which is going to stop me from doing my job in the coming weeks. It means I won't be able to be out on the training pitch every day, and if I can't give 100% I feel it's better for someone else to take over the reins.

"My relationship with Tony Fernandes has been one of the highlights of my footballing career and I wish the club every success. I am confident they will survive in the Premier League this year."

QPR are currently second from bottom in the Premier League with 19 points.

  5. Alliss reacts to Open rights newspublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2015

    Peter Alliss

Veteran broadcaster Peter Alliss has reacted to the news that Sky will broadcast the Open Championship from 2017 after winning exclusive live rights.

"It saddens me because I have been working since 1961 but it really saddens me because all golfers throughout Britain and Europe will miss the BBC," he told BBC Radio 5 live.

"The R&A have always said they are the 'guardians of the game' and taking it north, south, east and west and looking after things.

"I know they give a couple of thousand quid to some golf course that has been washed into the sea by the Atlantic Ocean and I know they do lots of lovely, lovely things but now when it comes down to the nitty-gritty they have dipped their hands into the money and that's it. I don't think there will be a golfer that won't be bitterly disappointed at the news today."

James Stuart:, external 9/10 for Chelsea!! Sad to see Schurrle go but Cuadrado is a good piece of business for Chelsea!! Quality player and we made a profit from the sales of other players! He will hopefully help us push on and win the title.

Peter Parish:, external Palace - 6/10? Zaha business fantastic. jury still out on all the rest. But we can't claim to have no strikers any more.

Joshua Milton:, external Tranmere - 9/10. Micky Adams has cleared a lot of rubbish and brought in a much higher quality player. We now have options from the bench!
