    The Independent reports, external that 19-year-old Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom is about to commit his future to the club.

    Akpom has made five appearances for the club this season but is out of contract this summer. However, he is understood to be "very close" to signing a four-and-a-half year deal Arsenal have offered him to keep him.

    Birmingham City say they were never worried about losing prized asset Demarai Gray on deadline day despite receiving five bids from Bournemouth, rising to £5m, during the transfer window.

    The 18-year-old winger was named Football League Young Player of the Month in December and became the third youngest player to score a hat-trick for the club in the 6-1 win over Reading.

    "It is well documented that we received several offers," said a club statement. "But Demarai has never once given any indication that he wanted to leave."

    Bolton manager Neil Lennon says he wants the Macron Stadium to be as loud as possible for Wednesday night's FA Cup replay against Liverpool.

    "We want the stadium to be bouncing tomorrow," he said. "We want it to be as intimidating for Liverpool as possible," he told his pre-match news conference.

    "The first goal is always important in these games. I wouldn't say we are confident but we are really looking forward to it."

    But Lennon revealed that Wanderers will be without midfielder Darren Pratley, who has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks after tearing a hamstring against Wolves last weekend.

    What a day Monday was for Andy Kellett, who was expecting to rejoin Plymouth Argyle only to discover he would be heading to Manchester United on loan.

    The transfer deadline may be closed but Spanish newspaper Marca reports that there could be another deal on the horizon but one which would catch the eye.

    Korean teenager Lee Seung-Woo joined Barcelona in 2011 as the next Messi but his is currently a transfer target for rivals Real Madrid.

    Lee has not played in a competitive game in over a year and he will not be able to until next January when he celebrates his 18th birthday so at the moment he plays only in friendlies and international games with South Korea.

    Sunderland winger Adam Johnson is out of Tuesday's FA Cup fourth-round replay at Fulham after undergoing surgery.

    The 27-year-old midfielder has had a minor operation on a thumb problem and will miss the game at Craven Cottage, although his absence is expected to be brief.

    Tim Cahill has revealed he was in contact with both Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and ex-manager David Moyes on deadline day before opting for a move to China.

    MLS outfit the New York Red Bulls announced on Monday the former Everton stalwart was leaving them by mutual consent, which started rumours he could complete a surprise return to Merseyside but he has instead opted for Shanghai Shenhua.

    "Basically I spent most of the morning on the phone to the boys," he told Fox Sports. "I spoke to [former NY team-mate] Thierry Henry via text and Bill Kenwright at Everton and Ange Postecoglou. Spoke to Moyes about possibly going to La Liga.

    "I've taken a lot of good advice. I think it's exciting to still be in demand," he added.

    New Zealand beat Pakistan by 119 runs in Napier in their final limited-overs international before the Cricket World Cup, to compete a 2-0 series win.

    Kane Williamson made 112 from 88 balls and Ross Taylor an unbeaten 102 from 70 deliveries after New Zealand won the toss and compiled 369-5, their highest total against Pakistan.

    Pakistan, who made 205, struggled to cope with the bowling of New Zealand trio Adam Milne (2-52), Grant Elliott (2-35) and Nathan McCullum (2-33).

    Rory McIlroy's court case against his former management agent is set to begin in the Irish High Court later.

    The world's number one golfer is suing Horizon Sports Management following a multi-million euros dispute over fees.

    The period under dispute coincided with McIlroy's sponsorship deal with Nike, said to be worth about $100m (£66m).

    The head of the Japan Football Association says that coach Javier Aguirre has been sacked over allegations he was involved in match-fixing.

    Kuniya Daini said the JFA made the decision in order to avoid compromising the country's chances in World Cup qualifying but it comes days after they suffered a surprise defeat by the UAE in the Asian Cup quarter-finals.

    Former Mexico coach Aguirre has become embroiled in a match-fixing investigation launched by Spain's state prosecutor in the Spanish league into a league match between Levante and his former club Zaragoza in May 2011.
