  1. Daley on diving, part 1published at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2015

British Commonwealth diving champion Tom Daley has had his say on the Wayne Rooney controversy, tweeting:, external I swear... every time there is a football match... I find out that I have a new team mate via Twitter.

  2. Get involved: The Wayne Rooney debatepublished at 10:22 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2015

Jason Sutch via text: People are overreacting massively to the Wayne Rooney penalty! The goalkeeper was reckless in coming out like that. If in the middle of the park, it would be a free kick. There should be no special allowances because you get a penalty. Lets be honest here, if Rooney does this for England and wins a penalty that subsequently wins a match for England, this debate would not even be happening! FACT.

Matt in Oxford, via text: Taking 'evasive action' or not, you don't need to fall face first on the floor after you jump out of the way of something, do you? I don't understand how anyone can say Rooney didn't dive. The keeper gave him that penalty on a plate, but it's still a dive.

Reg Weir, via text: Anywhere else on the pitch, he would have attempted to stay on his feet. Because he was in the box he fell deliberately. No penalty. Yellow card for simulation. Simple.

  3. 'Another night of nothing'published at 10:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2015

Whether or not Wayne Rooney dived or not is dominating the debate after his Manchester United side's win over Preston last night but what about fellow striker Radamel Falcao's performance?

The Colombian failed to score and United only staged their comeback after he was substituted. He has scored just four goals in 19 games for United, and has completed 90 minutes a mere four times in five and a half months at Old Trafford.

"Another night of nothing from Falcao," said BBC co-commentator Martin Keown. "You wonder if you will see him again in a Manchester United shirt. I don't think he has offered much at all."

  4. Walsh not ready for returnpublished at 10:09 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2015

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham says he will not take a gamble by playing Australian scrum-half Luke Walsh in Sunday's World Club Challenge against South Sydney.

Walsh has recovered from leg and ankle injuries which have kept him out since last July but a virus prevented him making a return to full training in time for last Thursday's Super League round-two game at Salford.

"He won't play," Cunningham said. "He's not ready.

"It's unfortunate he can't be part of such a big event but I don't think we can risk him."

The other debate we've got going this morning regards Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's alleged dive during last night's 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round win at Preston. Persuasive arguments on both sides so far - here's a selection...

Punk Paultje:, external Disappointed that the England manager saw fit to defend Rooney. At least Kevin Kilbane called it as it was - a clear dive.

Max Baggins-Craig:, external It wasn't a dive from Rooney, but he could see what was coming though, but went for it anyway - anyone would.

Henry Ashman:, external Regardless of whether Rooney goes down or not, he's impeded & it's still a penalty. Goalkeeper flew in, nowhere near the ball.

England fly-half Danny CiprianiImage source, PA

England fly-half Danny Cipriani has admitted he took international rugby "for granted" before his seven-year Six nations exile.

The 27-year-old came off the bench to score a try in England's 47-17 victory over Italy on Saturday in his first Six Nations game since 2008.

"At the time I didn't say I took it for granted but you don't really appreciate the moments as they come along," says Cipriani.

"That's what I'm doing now: every moment and every experience I am appreciating and there's no way I want to be out of this England side ever again, for as long as I'm playing."

  13. Athletics in crisispublished at 09:17 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2015

The head of world athletics has admitted the sport faces "a crisis" over allegations of doping by Russian competitors.

Speaking to the BBC, Lamine Diack, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) said: "It's a difficult crisis but we will put it behind us by cleaning all this."

In his first broadcast interview since the allegations were made public, Diack said he was "shocked" and "disturbed" when he first heard the claims.

But the 81-year-old Senegalese official insisted allegations that 99% of Russian athletes are doping were "a joke" and "ridiculous".

The goings on at Rangers do not make for pretty reading and the latest development has seen a new venue chosen for Rangers' extraordinary general meeting.

It will now be at London's Grange Tower Bridge Hotel after the Scottish Championship club was forced to find another host after the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington pulled out.

New Zealand made hard work of a win over Scotland in their Pool A match in Dunedin.

The Scots were reduced to 12-4 in the fifth over before Matt Machan (56) and Richie Berrington (50) put on 97.

Four batsmen fell first ball, a World Cup first, and only the third such instance in a one-day international, as they were 142 all out in the 37th over.

It should have been an easy chase for the co-hosts but they lost seven wickets before reaching their target with 25.1 overs to spare.
