    Ronny Deila

But he knows Thursday's date with Inter will be a major test.

"We will get a lot of answers tomorrow - how good are Celtic right now and how good are we individually," said Deila.

  6. Appeal over loan deal

    Football

Spanish side Eibar have appealed to FIFA to be granted international clearance to sign Liverpool defender Rafa Paez on loan until the end of the season.

After the clubs reached an agreement last month, FIFA blocked the transfer of the 20-year-old to the Primera Division side because of an administrative mistake.

The Spanish central defender played the 2013-14 campaign with the Liverpool reserves and was sent on a season-long loan to Serie B side Bologna last summer, where he made eight league appearances.

  7. Robinson pride at 'massive' MK win

When Duchatelet took over the Addicks he added the south-east London side to a network of clubs around Europe, including Belgian side Standard Liege, from whom Charlton have signed nine players.

"The aim is to engage Roland in conversation and find out what is going on," Addicks fan Steve Clarke told BBC London 94.9. "He rarely visits London or comes to The Valley and has resisted all attempts by us to have any dialogue.

Force India say they are confident their car for the new Formula 1 season will make its debut at the final test in Barcelona later this month.

Due to supplier and cash-flow issues, Force India were forced to skip the first test in Jerez as the VJM08 was not ready.

For the second test - which starts at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday - the Silverstone-based team will use last year's car.

    Rickie Lambert

Lambert - who has scored only three goals in 26 appearances since joining from Southampton for £4m last summer - agreed terms on a two-and-a- half-year deal with Villa, only to pull out.

"I spoke to my agent, my wife, to Aston Villa and it was close. It was very close. It was touch and go. We agreed everything," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"But in the end there just wasn't enough time to say 'yes'. It was nothing negative towards Aston Villa, it's a great club. I just didn't think it was right for me to leave here just six months into my Liverpool career. I didn't want to go."

To say the match was a drab affair is putting it mildly. In fact - and this is for those who like their stats - Bayern had one shot on target, the fewest they have recorded in any game in all competitions since October 2012.

The sides meet again in Munich on 11 March when, we hope, it will be a darn sight better.

  120. Carroll goes under the knife

    Football

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has had surgery on a knee injury that is expected to keep him out for the rest of the season.

Carroll suffered medial ligament damage in Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Southampton.

The 26-year-old was forced to stay on the pitch because West Ham were down to 10 men and had made all three of their substitutions.

On Tuesday, Carroll tweeted: "Today's surgery went great and glad to be put back together into one piece!"

    The Guardian

Let's begin a round-up of the morning papers with The Guardian. It tells the tale of Chelsea's Champions League draw in Paris, and has some worrying news for Birmingham fans - a possible 10-point deduction after, according to the paper, the club's Hong Kong-listed parent company, Birmingham International Holdings, appointed the receivers Ernst and Young to take over the running of its business.

  122. Marathon marvel

    Kenyan

Want an inspirational video to start your day? We've got just the ticket.

This is Hyvon Ngetich, a Kenyan marathon runner, who crawled to the finish line after collapsing 50 metres from the end of a race in Austin, Texas.

Ngetich had been leading the race when she fell - but still finished in third place.

  123. 'Rooney said sorry' - Preston keeper

    Football

Preston goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann has claimed that Wayne Rooney apologised for the way he won a penalty against him in Monday's fifth round FA Cup tie.

    Rooney

Manchester United and England skipper Rooney was accused of diving to win a spot kick in United's 3-1 win, but replays showed there was no contact.

"After the game Rooney told me: 'Sorry, it was my chance to get a penalty. I had to use that,'" Stuckmann told The Sun.

  124. Afghanistan face uphill battle

    Cricket

A little update on the latest at the Cricket World Cup down under.

Afghanistan, making a historic first appearance at the competition, bowled out Bangladesh for 267 and are now batting.

It's fair to say the new boys are finding things tough with the bat, reduced to 19-3 after nine overs.

Still a long way to go though. You can follow the action live right here.

  125. Chelsea warning to 'racist' fans

    Football

Footage has emerged appearing to show fans preventing a black man from boarding a Paris train which had Chelsea supporters, among others, on board, before last night's Champions League game.

In the amateur video, which has appeared on the Guardian website, the man repeatedly tries to get on the crowded Metro carriage but is pushed off.

A group of people can be heard singing: "We're racist, we're racist and that's the way we like it."

A Chelsea FC spokesman said the behaviour was "abhorrent" and the club would support any criminal action against those allegedly involved.

This was one of Thibaut Courtois's many saves against PSG, keeping out a Zlatan Ibrahimovic header.

We're assured there wasn't a single flying boot in sight.

  127. Finders keepers

    Football

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho picked Thibaut Courtois in goal for the Paris St-Germain game, rather than Petr Cech.

It proved a good decision with the Belgian in sparkling form, described by Chelsea skipper John Terry as "different class".

    Courtois

Paris St-Germain had 14 shots on goal, seven of which were on target - but only Edinson Cavani's second-half header was enough to beat Courtois.

"Cech and Courtois are both phenomenal goalkeepers," said Mourinho. "If football was nine players plus two goalkeepers we would be on the moon."

  128. Chelsea fight their way to a draw

    Football

It wasn't always pretty by Chelsea against Paris St-Germain but the Premier League leaders did enough to get a vital draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Branislav Ivanovic headed Jose Mourinho's team in front after Gary Cahill's flick from John Terry's cross.

    Chelsea

But Paris St-Germain dominated the second half and scored a deserved equaliser when Edinson Cavani headed in.

Jose Mourinho's men had to withstand waves of Paris St-Germain attacks but earned a 1-1 draw and, just like they did in last season's quarter-finals, will now hope to progress again at Paris St-Germain's expense when the teams meet again at Stamford bridge on 11 March.
