    Netherlands cross country runner Adrienne Herzog has been banned for two years after failing a doping test.

    An out-of-competition test proved positive in March 2014 and her suspension runs until 14 May 2016.

    Herzog, who won bronze medals at the European Cross Country Championships in 2009 and 2012, protests her innocence.

    "The past 10 months have been the most difficult of my life, as I have never knowingly taken any banned substance," said Herzog, 29, on her website.

    Ricky Burns has been handed the chance to revive his career in the United States with a clash against fellow former world champion Omar Figueroa.

    Burns will take on the unbeaten 25-year-old in San Antonio, Texas on 9 May in his first fight in the States.

    Figueroa vacated his WBC lightweight title in November after suffering an infected cut in his second successful defence against Daniel Estrada, with the Venezuelan subsequently deciding to step up a weight.

    Burns is looking to bounce back from a difficult period which saw him lose his WBO lightweight belt to Terence Crawford.

    The NBA's annual All-Star Celebrity Game, external last Friday pitted 35-year-old actor Kevin Hart against 13-year-old baseball star, Mo'one Davis, and The Wedding Ringer star came off second best.

    Granted, Davis has rather more sporting prowess, becoming the first girl to win a Little League World Series game - one of only two girls competing in the whole series - graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, external, and was the 2014 Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year, external, but still.

    Prime Minister David Cameron has had his say after footage emerged which appeared to show Chelsea football fans preventing a black man from boarding a Paris train.

    "This does look extremely disturbing," he said. "It's obviously potentially a criminal offence and so I'm sure the French police will be looking at it very seriously.

    "I know the British police will give every assistance that they can. I'm sure Chelsea will co-operate with that fully. These are very, very serious matters."

    Fly-half Finn Russell will miss Scotland's Six Nations match against Italy after being suspended for two weeks for a tackle on Wales' Dan Biggar.

    The 22-year-old was handed a three-week ban, reduced by a week for his clean record, after appearing before a disciplinary panel in London on Wednesday.

    Leeds defender Giuseppe Bellusci was cleared of racially abusing Norwich's Cameron Jerome because he was actually threatening to give the striker "a black eye", the Football Association has revealed.

    The Italian was charged following an incident during the 1-1 draw between the teams in October, where he was alleged to have directed a racial insult at Jerome.

    An independent regulatory commission dropped the case at a personal hearing earlier this month.

    An FA document released today revealed that Bellusci was accused of calling Jerome a 'negro', but the panel accepted his explanation that he said the word 'nero', the Italian term for black, while threatening Jerome with a black eye.

    Anthony Bosch, the former owner of a Florida clinic at the centre of baseball's most recent steroid scandal, has been jailed for four years.

    He pleaded guilty in October to conspiracy to distribute testosterone to athletes from the now-closed Biogenesis of America clinic.

    One customer was New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, who was suspended for 211 games in August 2013.

    The ban was cut to 162 games on appeal but he missed the entire 2014 season.

    Rodriguez, the 14-time All-Star and three-time Most Valuable Player, issued a handwritten apology for his involvement in the scandal.

    Kelly Sotherton has appealed for help in tracking down her Commonwealth gold medal after it was stolen in a burglary.

    The former Great Britain heptathlete won the medal at Melbourne in 2006, the only major championship gold of her career.

    Sotherton, 38, said on Twitter, external: "Been burgled...one thing stolen was my Commonwealth gold medal from Melbourne 2006. PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT."

    Chelsea have appealed for witnesses regarding the incident in Paris on Tuesday when fans of the club appeared to prevent a black man from boarding a train.

    The club released a statement that said: "To help us with our investigations and to identify those persons involved, we ask those who were present to forward their observations, in the strictest confidence, to customer.services@chelseafc.com

    "Such behaviour is abhorrent and has no place in football or society. We will support any criminal action against those involved in such behaviour, and should evidence point to the involvement of Chelsea season ticket holders or members the club, will take the strongest possible action against them, including banning orders."

    Cambridge United have signed Peterborough United winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on loan until 5 May.

    The 22-year-old has played 16 times for Posh this season, but has not started a game since November.

    Mendez-Laing, who started his career at Wolves, becomes the first player to switch between the Cambridgeshire rivals in almost seven years.

    Scott Rendell left the U's for Posh in February 2008, while Danny Crow moved the other way seven months later after being released by the London Road side.

    Scotland assistant coach Paul Collingwood believes England's current batting line-up is their "most powerful ever".

    England's most capped one-day player says the way that the modern player hits the ball is "pretty much incredible".

    England lost their opening match to Australia by 111 runs and face co-hosts New Zealand in Wellington at 01:00 GMT on Saturday.

    Susie Wolff will drive the new Williams FW37 on the first day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday.

    The Scot, 32, was named the team's test driver in November after taking part in two practice sessions last year.

    Race drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa will each get a day and a half in the new car over the following three days of running in Barcelona.

    Bottas will drive the car on Friday before Massa takes over on Saturday, and the pair will share the final day.
