  2. The best thing for England?published at 09:01 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

The 2022 World Cup set to move to the winter, but ex-England defender Phil Neville thinks it could give the national team a better chance of winning the tournament.

"We normally go into a World Cup at the end of a long, hard, nine-month season when our players are absolutely dead on their feet," Neville, who won 59 caps for his country, told BBC Sport.

"For an England team, this might be the best thing that's ever happened."

The former Manchester United and Everton defender added that he would be "licking my lips" if he was England boss Roy Hodgson because "we'll have the freshest ever national team going to a World Cup".

  3. What's the impact of a winter World Cup?published at 08:52 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

BBC sports editor Dan Roan explains the reasoning behind the recommendation by football's world governing body Fifa that the 2022 World Cup should take place in the winter.

"Fifa say the soaring summer temperatures mean that football's showpiece event needs to be move from its traditional summer slot," says Roan.

Key football officials on a Fifa taskforce met in Doha to discuss a number of options following concerns that a summer event would endanger the health of players and fans because of high seasonal temperatures.

The recommendation is expected to be ratified by Fifa's executive committee in Zurich on 19 and 20 March.

BBC Radio 5 live sports news correspondent

"Further to yesterday's hints about a December 23rd 2022 World Cup final, a schedule was discussed by the Fifa task force at its meeting in Doha.

"The opening game of the competition would be November 26.

"It was not agreed upon but those dates are under active discussion. It's expected that an exact schedule will be announced by the end of this year."

The lead story on the Independent story is again Luis Suarez, but the paper also gives good coverage to the story we were focusing on so much in yesterday's Sportsday - that the Qatar World Cup in 2022 will be staged in November and December of that year.

The paper says Richard Scudamore, chief executive of the Premier League, may take legal action against Fifa as the winter World Cup could damage "one of the English game's great traditions" - the matches over the Christmas and New Year.

The Guardian go on similar lines with their lead story. They also talk about Chelsea's Nemanja Matic, who has had his ban for his sending off against Burnley reduced to two games from three games, after they showed that the player was provoked.

Burnley's Ashley Barnes produced a horrible-looking challenge on Matic, which the midfielder reacted to and pushed his opponent over.

  7. Today's newspaperspublished at 08:28 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

There is a constant theme shown in the national newspapers today. Luis Suarez scored twice against Manchester City yesterday and there are teeth or bite puns in almost all of the papers, after the Uruguayan's history of biting opponents.

One of the best efforts came from the Mirror.

  8. 'Barcelona did what they wanted'published at 08:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

    Chris Waddle
    BBC Radio 5 live

"If you're going to play 4-4-2, you've got to hound the ball. City didn't do that and Barcelona just did whatever they wanted in the first half. Aguero and Dzeko, from the off, didn't pressurise people. Nasri got subbed and Silva didn't have the legs.

"Give credit to City, they stuck at it but you have to say Barcelona are far superior. Against 10 men, the visitors should have been thinking about going for another goal and Messi will be absolutely devastated with his penalty miss. He's a perfectionist."

  9. 'We were much better than Man City'published at 08:15 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique refused to blame Lionel Messi, who has converted 44 of the 57 penalties he has taken for the La Liga club, for failing to find the net against Manchester City on Tuesday.

"Players who take penalties will always miss some, but we have full confidence in Messi," said Enrique.

"We played a very complete game and we should be very satisfied with that. This was a very good display from our team. We were much better than our opponents."

  10. 'It would've been very difficult at 3-1'published at 08:12 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said without Joe Hart's penalty save they would have been facing almost certain elimination from the Champions League.

"It was a very important save," said Pellegrini. "It would have been very difficult at 3-1. It's not the best result to lose at home, but we will go to Barcelona to try to win. We still have the chance to do it.

"If we go to Barcelona and play in the way we normally do, like we did in the second half, then we will have chances.

"If we play the way we can, we can do it. When we have the ball, we must be the team we are every week in the Premier League."

  11. Tricky for Citypublished at 08:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

So, let's begin in Manchester, on what proved to be another tricky night for Manuel Pellegrini in the Champions League.

Luis Suarez dented Manchester City's hopes of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals with two goals as Barcelona secured a last-16 first-leg victory at Etihad Stadium.

The former Liverpool striker drove home a rebound before stabbing in a second as Barcelona dominated the first half.

Sergio Aguero's powerful finish after the break gave City hope. The hosts were reduced to 10-men when Gael Clichy was sent off before Lionel Messi had a late penalty saved and, facing an open goal, headed the rebound wide.
