Back to Spain, and clearly that Gareth Bale missed chance early in Real's 0-0 draw at Atletico is the motif of the morning.

The Welshman was clear through on goal in the third minute but missed what ultimately proved to be the best opening of a brawling Champions League quarter-final first leg.

It was a busy night in the Football League yesterday and although fans of Bournemouth, Norwich and Middlesbrough may still feel a little queasy, Bristol City supporters are celebrating.

City hammered Bradford 6-0 at Valley Parade last night to earn at least second place in League One, and there's one particularly vocal fan in our office who'll be no doubt reminding us throughout the day.

It's the final day of qualification ahead of Snooker's World Championship, which gets under way at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield on Saturday.

'The Oblak Wall' - that's how the Spanish press have it this morning.
