  1. Goodbye

Right, that's all from us after another busy Sportsday. We'll be back for more of the same on Friday at 08:00 BST. Join us then.

I'd suggest you spend the rest of your evening following our live text commentary of day four of the first Test between West Indies and England here.

    Cheerio for now.

  2. Get involved - PFA awards shortlist

    Football

We asked for your thoughts on the PFA awards shortlists, in which Tottenham's Harry Kane is one of four players who could win both the Player and Young Player of the Year prize.

Manchester United keeper David De Gea, Chelsea forward Eden Hazard and Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho could also win the awards.

George: Poor Charlie Austin, two goals shy of top & single-handedly kept QPR from being an absolute embarrassment - not on the shortlist.

Ram Rimal: Hazard and Kane. Hazard is a complete player and Kane has good prospect.

Blue Soldier: Hazard is too old to be in the young POTY nominee's list. Lack of young talent?

  3. Neville wants netball 'stardom' for Superleague

    Netball

Manchester Thunder coach Tracey Neville hopes the Superleague can one day emulate the "stardom" of football.

Reigning champions Thunder will host Hertfordshire Mavericks in the play-off semi-finals on Saturday in front of an expected club record 4,000-strong crowd.

And Neville, the sister of ex-Manchester United duo Phil and Gary, wants the sport to continue to grow.

"We need to migrate that stardom image associated with other sports," said the 38-year-old interim England coach.

  4. GB stun South Korea

    Ice Hockey

Great Britain have come from two goals down to defeat favourites South Korea in the World Championships in Eindhoven.

The result makes it three wins out of three for GB, who have already beaten Croatia and Estonia.

Goals from Nottingham Panthers forward Robert Farmer cut the deficit in the second period, before Ben O'Connor equalised on the power play. O'Connor then won the game with an outrageous penalty shot to leave GB top of Division 1B knowing two more wins will guarantee gold.

Britain are competing in the third tier of the tournament and are now in pole position to achieve promotion.

  5. Get involved - PFA awards shortlist

    Football

We want your thoughts on the PFA awards shortlists, which have been announced today. Tweet #bbcsportsday or visit our Facebook page.

Jerry Clark: Is it just a big club/small club thing? Forster, Austin, Clyne, Sigurdsson, Berahino, Ings.

E Shipley: DDG by a mile! But silly to be included in both categories (all 4 who are, not just DDG). He's worthy of both though.

Mister Bibby: Take out Sterling for a start! Doesn't deserve to be on there. #harrykane & #DeGea are the winners for me

Mr Blue Guy: Hazard has to win player of the year

  6. Ballance out but England pile on runs

    Cricket

    Gary Ballance

Follow our live text commentary here.

  7. Get involved - PFA awards shortlists

    Football

Burnley defender Steven Reid: Congrats to @EniAlu on her @PFA awards nomination. Good work.

Christian: Kane, no doubt about it!

Chris Woodman: PFA Player of the Year - surely @D_DeGea for his emergence as a top quality stopper. Struggled for a season, proven himself.

Robbie: Coutinho has had a few good games. He's scored about 4 really good goals and that's it. He shouldn't be a nominee.

We want to hear your thoughts. Tweet #bbcsportsday or visit our Facebook page.

  8. Bennett undergoes shoulder surgery

    Rugby Union

    Mark Bennett

Scotland and Glasgow centre Mark Bennett won't play again this season after shoulder surgery. He will now start a period of rehabilitation in the hope of being fit for the World Cup, which starts in September.

He joins Scotland's two other leading centres - Alex Dunbar and Matt Scott - on the sidelines.

  9. Get involved - PFA awards shortlist

    Football

So, is it going to be a clean sweep for Spurs striker Harry Kane? Or could Chelsea's Diego Costa or Eden Hazard deny the 21-year-old after the PFA awards shortlists were announced?

We want to hear your thoughts. Tweet #bbcsportsday or visit our Facebook page.

Daniel Jenkins: No Aguero on the PFA shortlist? That's ridiculous.

    Cricket

    Gary Ballance

England batsman Gary Ballance has reached his fourth Test century as England continue to build a formidable lead against West Indies in Antigua.

    Formula 1

    Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton's team-mate Nico Rosberg accused the Briton of backing him up into the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel in Shanghai.

"We did discuss Nico's opinion within the team after the race, but it would not be right to reveal what took place in a private meeting," Hamilton said.

"What I can say is that I feel very relaxed about it. Naturally, we are all competitors. So when it's so close and you don't win, it can be hard to deal with."

    Read Hamilton's column here.

  18. 'I'd take down Mayweather in 30 seconds'

    Ultimate Fighting Championship

    Conor McGregor

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Conor McGregor claims he would take down Floyd Mayweather in 30 seconds if the pair ever fought.

McGregor told Esquire magazine: "I don't look at a man who's expert in one area as a specialist, I look at him as a rookie in 10 other areas.

"It would take me less than 30 seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him."

McGregor, who is making quite a name for himself in the world of UFC also went on to explain that he doesn't believe in death.

    Football

    Football in Somalia

Somalia's FA president Adbi Qani hopes his country can compete in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and end an absence that stretches back to 1974.

Political unrest, a lack of funding and poor infrastructure has meant Somalia have only entered that one time, and along with Eritrea they will not take part in qualifiers for the 2017 edition.

But Qani believes that with a new national stadium scheduled for completion later this year, the country might be ready to enter again before the end of this decade.

  21. Chelsea's ever-present (almost) champions

    Football

    Chelsea players

As the Premier League season reaches its climax, Chelsea have the chance to strengthen their position at the top of the table when they take on Manchester United this Saturday.

The key to their success this season could be put down to consistency.

John Terry,Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic have played every minute of every game and Jose Mourinho has used just 22 players in the Premier League - the fewest in the top flight.

It's a different story for United manager Louis van Gaal, who has used 32 players this term - more than any other side.

    Football

    Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt

Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn has warned the club about the danger of selling their talented young players.

The Championship team faces an uncertain summer with Redfearn unsure if he will still be in charge next season and long term questions over the club's ownership.

"The IAAF bypassed the usual bidding procedure to name Eugene as hosts.

Monk has been touted as a potential successor to current Hammers boss Sam Allardyce, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

"West Ham have a fantastic manager in place," said Monk.

"For them to be looking elsewhere - if they are - I think they've already got the manager there who's had a fantastic season.

"I look at that type of speculation as a compliment to the way myself and the team have worked this season, showing we're progressing and going in the right direction."

Ulster said Fitzpatrick had been referred to a leading neurologist who recommended it would be in his best long-term interests to stop playing.

    Snooker

    Shamoon Hafez

    BBC Sport in Sheffield

    Shaun Murphy

"Spoke to Masters champion Shaun Murphy after the draw who said he is in 'a confident mood' ahead of the World Championship. It has been 10 years since the Sale man came through qualifying to become world champion.

"Asked if he should have won more world titles since then, he said: 'I should have beaten Mark Selby in 2007 but lost in the semi-final after being so far ahead, that was a missed chance. I didn't really feature in the final against John Higgins in 2009.

"'However, it is a venue I feel happy in and love to play snooker at the Crucible. It would be unbelievable to win the world title again. When you talk about multiple world champions, you are in the same breath as Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Steve Davis. To be in that group would be fantastic."

  35. Klopp departure 'like Ferguson leaving Man Utd'

    Football

    Jurgen Klopp

    Steve Clarke

It's not all Premier League this weekend though. Oh no.

Reading manager Steve Clarke says his side must "play the perfect game" if they are to beat Arsenal in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

The Royals take on the holders of the competition and Clarke is aware of the difficult task his side face.

However, he believes the Championship club can cause an upset and reach their first ever FA Cup final.

"We have to play well, the perfect game with no mistakes and have to find a way to score a goal," Clarke told the BBC.

"In football anything is possible, it's 11 versus 11. If we can play to our maximum then we have a chance to go through."

    Football

    Football

More from Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, this time on Stoke, their opponents on Saturday: "This season they've brought in some good technical players. If you mention only direct play, it's not respectful.

The Glazers, led by their late billionaire businessman father Malcolm, bought United for £790m in a leveraged deal in May 2005, which immediately put the club into £660m of debt.

A decade on, with the club worth £1.8bn and debt halved to £380.5m, Tehsin Nayani has detailed his six-year relationship with the secretive family, who have not given an extensive interview in almost 10 years, in his book 'The Glazer Gatekeeper'.

    Football

    Harry Redknapp

Former QPR boss Harry Redknapp says he would consider another managerial job if the right offer came his way.

    Pep Guardiola

Wednesday night wasn't a good one for Pep Guardiola, whose Bayern Munich side lost 3-1 to Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was in shocking form, conceding a penalty before uncharacteristically folding in a one-on-one with Ricardo Quaresma, as the Portuguese side took a first-leg advantage.

"There's still another leg. We're a bit upset but we have six days to analyse it," Guardiola said.

    Roy Hodgson

It's three weeks until General Election day, and although this isn't the place for political discussion (as I'd get in trouble), we'd like to have fun with it.

So we're asking: Which figures from the world of sport would make it into your cabinet?

Who'd be your prime minister? Who'd head the Treasury? And who'd be your foreign secretary, negotiating with other nations? Surely Roy Hodgson's a decent shout?

And as if all that wasn't enough:

Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are all in action at the Monte Carlo Masters, where we've already reached the third round.

England resume their first Test against West Indies and we'll have a separate live text commentary on offer from about 14:30.

This afternoon Great Britain face South Korea in their latest Division I Group B match at the Ice Hockey World Championship in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Plus we'll have updates from the European Gymnastics Championships in Montpellier, France, and the British Swimming Championships at London Aquatics Centre.

  116. Good morning and welcome

  117. Paris St-German 1-3 Barcelona

    Football

    L'Equipe

Barcelona have one foot in the semi-finals then, but for PSG the spell is broken.

At least the Champions League spell is. Laurent Blanc's side are still chasing a successive league title, have already won the League Cup and play Auxerre in the final of the French Cup on 30 May.

But you'd expect there will be plenty of furrowed brows behind the scenes this morning, given the amount of cash that has been invested in establishing the club among the European elite. Last night, they fell short against the old money.

  118. Super Suarez

    Sport front page

Luis Suarez's stunning performance as Barcelona won 3-1 at Paris-St Germain in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday night is the talk of the town.

The Uruguayan striker nutmegged former Chelsea centre-back Luiz twice on his way to scoring two goals that must have Liverpool fans in an especially wistful mood. Chelsea fans might see the lighter side. As, seemingly, did Suarez.

"I had to nutmeg Luiz twice because there was nothing else I could do," Suarez said after the game.

    Chapeau, Luis.
