    These PFA awards seem to be getting a bit like the Oscars, with a bundle of other awards handed out too.

    Former England midfielders Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard shared the PFA Merit award.

    "I'm a young boy from a council estate who has worked ever so hard to get to where I am today," said Gerrard, successfully ticking every 'must act humble' box.

    Chelsea midfielder Ji So-Yun took the Women's Player of the Year award, while Arsenal midfielder Leah Williamson won the Women's PFA Young Player of the Year award.

    It isn't just Hazard celebrating today.

    Tottenham striker Harry Kane capped a phenomenal breakthrough season by winning PFA Young Player of the Year.

    Kane has 30 goals in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino's side this season and scored on his England debut against Lithuania in March.

    "It is amazing. It is a very proud moment for myself and my family - hopefully the first of many to come," said a beaming Kane.

    "I have got to keep working hard, but to be recognised by your fellow players is something special and it is a night I won't forget."

    So then, let's give Mr Hazard a much deserved moment in the spotlight.

    A few hours after helping Chelsea edge just that little bit closer to the Premier League title, the 24-year-old hot-footed it across London to collect the PFA Player of the Year award.

    After lifting the trophy, Hazard, who has has scored 13 goals and made eight assists in 33 Premier League games, said: "I don't know if I deserve to win but it is good for me.

    "It is better to be voted by the players - they know everything about football."
