    The entire United States 4x100m relay team have been stripped of their London 2012 Olympic silver medals as a consequence of Tyson Gay's drugs ban.

    Former 100m and 200m world champion Gay was suspended for a year after testing positive for a banned anabolic steroid.

    The 32-year-old returned his London 2012 medal when his suspension was announced in May 2014.

    Now the International Olympic Committee has told US Olympic bosses that the whole team must return their medals.

    Pietersen tweeted a picture of himself boarding a private plane to Dubai after injury ruled him out of the IPL

    Kevin Pietersen will not play in this year's Indian Premier League because of calf and Achilles injuries sustained during a County Championship match where he scored 355 not out.

    The injury comes after the 34-year-old was told he would not be selected for England.

    Pietersen had been due to fly to India on Friday to fulfil his IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad. The former England batsman is expected to be out for two weeks with the injury.

    Some news from this morning now and Cricket Australia has confirmed it will commission an independent review into the death of batsman Phillip Hughes.

    Test player Hughes died in November aged 25, two days after being struck on the top of the neck by a delivery during a domestic match in Sydney.

    The review is aimed at ensuring an accident like Hughes' death does not happen again with Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland calling it "one freak accident too many."

    Good morning and welcome to Thursday.

    Yesterday was all about Kevin, but Mr Pietersen has left on a jet plane to Dubai. Injured, with no England recall and no IPL. England will attempt to move on without him as they name their squad for the Test series against New Zealand later today.

    There was heartache for Gareth Bale and Real Madrid as the holders were knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage while Juventus reached the final for the first time since 2003 where they will face Barcelona.

    And that means the rematch of the century....no, not Mayweather v Pacquiao but Suarez v Chiellini.
