Louis van Gaal will be pleased to have avoided the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich after Manchester United were drawn in Group B of the Champions’ League.
The Dutch manager said he wouldn’t watch the draw and instead his focus would be on his second team taking on Ajax in a behind closed doors game today, but he will return to find a meeting with familiar opposition in PSV Eindhoven from his native country, who won the Eredivisie title last year before selling Memphis to United for £27.9m in the summer.

Manchester United have been made very welcome on their return to the Champions League with a favourable draw in the group stage.
Manager Louis van Gaal will feel quietly confident of progress from a group that contains PSV Eindhoven and CSKA Moscow, while the meeting with Germans Wolfsburg may be made slightly easier if Manchester City, as expected, sign their stand-out player Kevin de Bruyne.

"Manchester United are in quite a favourable group. Manchester City have probably got the toughest of the England clubs - not for the first time. They must think they are cursed.
"Arsenal's is a mixed group and Chelsea have probably done the best of the English teams."
So it's Holland, Russia and Germany for Manchester United. Italy, Spain and Germany for Manchester City, Germany, Greece and Croatia for Arsenal and Portugal, Ukraine and Israel for Chelsea.

John: Why couldn't Sevilla go with Chelsea and Porto and why couldn't Man U get Barcelona??
A-Boo-Car: It just had to be Bayern and Olympiacos. Anybody from France in Pot 4? That should complete it for Arsenal.

"Interesting draws for all the English clubs. It looked good for Man Utd at first but they now face a longer trip to Moscow.
"Sevilla won the Europa League last season so that will be a tough tie for Man City.
"After getting Porto, Chelsea also face a long trip to Ukraine and Arsenal will face some familiar foes. They have lost to Bayern Munich a couple of times and they also face a trip to Greece to face Olympiacos, which they have done a couple of times."
