    Arsenal fans have taken their dislike of Chelsea striker Diego Costa to new levels.

    According to the Metro,, external a section of fans are boycotting a popular coffee chain.

    Arsenal defender Gabriel was sent off during Saturday's defeat to the Blues, for kicking out at Costa, after being wound-up by the striker.

    Jimmy Armfield, BBC Radio 5 live pundit and - much more importantly - one of England's finest ever defenders, is 80 today.

    Armfield, a one-club man with Blackpool, was voted best right back in the world after captaining England at the 1962 World Cup and was in the squad when Sir Alf Ramsey's men won the tournament four years later at Wembley.

    Well the Daily Star, external claim hundreds of seagulls been causing havoc at the Springboks’ training ground with heir excrement and making a mess of their pitches.

    The Boks had been using the training ground at Eastbourne College.  

     Apparently ground staff were even forced to bring in a hawk to deter the gulls.

    Northern Ireland's Jonathan Rea has been crowned World Superbike champion after finishing fourth in Sunday's opening race at Jerez.

    The 28-year-old had gone into the Spanish round with a massive 144-point lead and needed only to finish in the top nine to be sure of the title.

    Rea becomes the fifth British rider to win the World Superbike Championship and is Northern Ireland's first motorcycling world champion since Joey Dunlop and Brian Reid in 1986.

    150/1 shot Joe Johnson beats Steve Davis at Crucible (1986)

    Joe Johnson had never won a tournament in his seven-year career and was a 150/1 outsider to win the championship at the start of Crucible fortnight. In fact he was starting to take more interest, external in his role as lead singer of Preston-based music group Made in Japan

    Three-time champ Steve Davis had lost the 1985 final to Dennis Taylor - respotted black, 18m viewers - but was world number one and had beaten Cliff Thorburn and Jimmy White en route to the final.

    Davis soon moved 3-1 up but Johnson ended the interval with a 4-3 lead and never looked back, completing an 18-12 win.

    "I never had visions of winning the world title," Johnson said afterward.

    "That's why I touched the trophy at the start of the match because I didn't think I'd ever get another chance to do it."

    Remarkable.

    Davis went on to win in 1987. And 1988. And 1989.

    Scotland face Japan, who shocked South Africa, to win their first game on Saturday.

    Scotland head coach Vern Cotter said: "We've prepared well for what will be a very tough Test against a powerful and fit Japanese team, who like to play a high-tempo game. "They [Japan] will have taken a lot of confidence from their opening win over South Africa however that doesn't change our approach to this game or the pool. "The priority for us to ensure that we get our jobs right with accuracy, and impose ourselves on the game.”

    Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has named his side to play Japan in their Rugby World Cup opener at Gloucester's Kingsholm Stadium on Wednesday.

    Full-back Stuart Hogg returns from injury to start, scrum-half Greig Laidlaw captains the side, while Flanker Josh Strauss is among the replacements, having become eligible under residency rules just last week.

    Scotland: Hogg, Seymour, Bennett, Scott, Lamont, Russell, Laidlaw, Dickinson, Ford, Nel, Gilchrist, Gray, Wilson, Hardie, Denton.

    Replacements: Brown, Grant, Welsh, Gray, Strauss, Pyrgos, Horne, Maitland.

    Soviets pip United States to Olympic basketball gold (1972)

    Hot favourites? I'll say. The United States had never lost an Olympic basketball match since the sport was first introduced in 1936 - a run of 63 straight wins.

    In the 1972 final in Munich, the States took the lead with less than three seconds remaining. Confusion reigned as to whether or not the Soviets had called a time-out.

    The match was eventually restarted with three seconds remaining and the Soviets failed to respond. Cue US celebrations...

    However, the clock had not been reset properly, leading to a very contentious call to replay the final three seconds. Aleksandr Belov was able to score a basket just before the buzzer went to give the Soviet Union a huge result and the gold medal.

    New Zealand captain Richie McCaw was called "dumb" by coach Steve Hansen for being sin-binned during his side's 26-16 World Cup win over Argentina.

    McCaw was shown only the third yellow card of his 143-cap career for a trip on Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.

    Argentina took a 10-9 lead after the resulting penalty, but the All Blacks took control after McCaw's return.

    "Sometimes in the heat of the moment, you have a wee brain explosion," said Hansen after the Pool C match.
