Verstappen, 18 next week, turned in a meteoric performance in the heat and humidity of Singapore to fight back from last place to eighth.

"Max is doing a great job and he is probably going to give us a headache in a season or two," said Horner

Verstappen also refused a team order to allow his Toro Rosso team-mate Carlos Sainz past in the closing stages of Sunday's race, saying afterwards: "My dad told me if I had let him past he would have kicked me in the nuts."

Gueye gets specialist advicepublished at 11:10

    Football

A bit of flesh on the bones from an earlier story.

Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye has flown to France in a bid to cure his hamstring troubles.

Manager Tim Sherwood revealed the Senegal international is seeing a specialist after being sidelined for Villa's last two games.

"He's gone back to France to see a specialist he knows there who he's confident with, we're waiting to hear from him today and hopefully he'll give us some positive news," said Sherwood.

"It is disappointing because of all the players we have brought in, he is the most outstanding one who has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water."

    'I am so sorry'published at 11:06

And talking of that incident, the woman at the centre of it - Europe's Suzann Pettersen - has now apologised for not conceding the putt.

"I am so sorry for not thinking about the bigger picture in the heat of the battle and competition," she wrote.

"I was trying my hardest for my team and put the single match and the point that could be earned ahead of sportsmanship and the game of golf itself.

"I feel like I let my team down and I am sorry. I hope in time the US team will forgive me and know that I have learned a valuable lesson about what is truly important in this great game of golf."

To concede or not, that is the questionpublished at 11:00

    Golf

There was one juicy moment of controversy during the USA's win.

In the fourballs contest between America's Alison Lee and Brittany Lincicome and Europe pair Charlie Hull and Suzann Pettersen,

Lee thought an 18-inch putt had been conceded as Hull had walked away. But Pettersen said they had not conceded and the hole went to Europe who won two up on the 18th.

Both Hull and Lee, playing in her first Solheim Cup, had to be consoled by team officials amid claims Europe had broken the game's moral code by not conceding from such a short distance.

"After that incident we were all fired up," said USA captain Juli Inkster.

Juli Inkster's team trailed 10-6 after the morning fourballs, but won eight and a half points from 12 singles to regain the title they last won in 2009.

"The girls were awesome," said Inkster. "Everybody did their job. I couldn't be more proud of them."
