Brazilian footballer Neymar is due to give evidence in a Spanish court over allegations of tax fraud surrounding his transfer to Barcelona in 2013.

The current and former president of the club denied wrongdoing at the court in Madrid on Monday.

Barcelona said it paid Brazilian club Santos €57m (£43m) for Neymar, 23, with his parents receiving €45m of the fee.

But investigators allege the fee was closer to €83m and that Barcelona should have paid another €13m in tax.

Mounir El-J: Stoke spent more on one player on transfer deadline day than Arsenal did in two transfer windows! We're trying to win the league?

AcBrook: West Ham did really well, two great signings, shame both of them can't play tonight against Villa.

Matthew Fuery: I'm a bit disappointed in Blackburn. Sold Rhodes and haven't reinvested in goals, Nakhi Wells would be a great option in summer.

Roberto Martinez news conferencepublished at 12:52

    Everton v Newcastle (19:45 GMT)

    EvertonImage source, Getty Images

Finally, Everton's manager is asked about two milestones - Ross Barkley, if selected tomorrow, will make his 100th Premier League start for the Toffees, while Martinez takes charge of his 100th Premier League match at the club.

He's not too bothered about the latter. "It is something to be very proud of but it’s very simple – the only thing that matters as a manager is to get three points against Newcastle," he says.

He's more talkative about young Ross, saying: "He has been filling an important role in the team for a long time but this season his performances have been a different level. Everyone can see that.

"He is very composed, with incredible decision-making, and great maturity for a 22-year-old. To get 100 appearances in the Premier League at that age is something that is going to be very difficult to match."

And with that, the manager is off. We're done and dusted here. Over and out.

John Stones has come under the spotlight a little lately after a couple of indifferent displays.

The manager is having none of it. "John has been a very important player for us. He is a young man, 21, and has played over 92% of minutes in the league which is phenomenal," says Martinez, who clearly drafted in Rachel Riley to work the last bit out.

"When you reach the level John has, you are going to be scrutinised and John understands that.

"He is working very hard to keep himself fit and to produce his best level. He has had an incredible season so far for a young man.

"John is strong-minded. He has been through a lot in the last eight months and he has been incredibly professional throughout and is growing all the time. It is not an issue."

That puts that one to bed then.
