The England striker has scored 15 league goals this term - two more than his Manchester City rival - and three fewer than Leicester's Jamie Vardy.

"Today Vardy and Kane show big quality and the same quality as Aguero," Pochettino said. "They are all different and come from different circumstances but if today Vardy and Kane are at the same level as Aguero."

Tottenham v Watford (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is refusing to get carried away by his side's good form which has seen them move up to third in the Premier League table.

"It is true that we are in a good position in the table but the key is to be focussed and improve our game every day," he said.

"We can improve and have the potential to improve and it is important to try to win every game but we need to show that we are in a position to challenge when it comes to the end of the season."

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino says midfielder Dele Alli will have tests next week to find out more about the dizziness which forced him to go off at half-time in Tuesday's win at Carrow Road.

Pochettino said the 19-year-old trained on Thursday after the incident but he will still be checked as a precaution.

“We don’t know why he was dizzy. We need to do some tests next week but we have very good medical staff," he said.

"We are not worried, we just need to assess him and to know why, but we are sure it is not a big problem. We need to have some checks and we need to look again but all seems to be normal and we hope he will be available for Saturday.”

Sam Allardyce admitted the defeat by Manchester City on Tuesday was his lowest point since becoming Sunderland manager, given it was arguably his side's best performance of his tenure.

Allardyce faces the media shortly and can expect questions on his four new signings and how he plans to integrate them into his starting XI. The manager has moved away from claiming Sunderland need another miracle to escape relegation but, with games running out and Norwich City at Aston Villa this weekend, the match at Anfield could be pivotal for Sunderland, who remain four points from safety.
