Indian skipper MS Dhoni (pictured above) has backed batsman Kevin Pietersen for the upcoming Indian Premier League, saying he expects no discipline problems from the controversial ex-England captain.

New franchise the Rising Pune Supergiants bought Pietersen for $514,500 at a player auction.

"People are often judged by what comes in the media, but when you actually meet them they are totally different. I don't think there will be any issue with discipline," Dhoni said.

"KP is a fantastic player. It is good to have him in the side."

Was Messi's penalty great skill or disrespectful?

Suhas:, external Messi-Suarez penalty is 100% within laws of the game. Takes complete trust to pull that off. What disrespectful??

Simon Richardson:, external I don't see how the Messi/Suarez penalty is any different to a Chris Ashton swallow dive or a Federer shot between-the-legs.

Golfin'God:, external Has it ever been done before? You shouldn't be allowed to intentionally assist from a penalty kick, the game will become farcical.

Paris St-Germain coach Laurent Blanc is not a happy chappie.

He is giving a press conference right now where he should be talking about tomorrow's Champions league last-16 tie with Chelsea.

Instead proceedings are being dominated by questions about right-back Serge Aurier, who has been suspended indefinitely after appearing to use homophobic language to insult the coach.

"He is a boy that should have been preparing today for a last 16 Champions League game and that would have been better than staying home not knowing what to do," says Blanc, looking about as cheesed-off as it is possible to look.

"It is a penalty for him but what I don't accept either is that it is also penalising the club. The player is a big boy and he can do what he wants. but he'll have to handle the consequences."

Allegations rock Algerian footballpublished at 13:06

    Football

Allegations of widespread drug-taking have rocked Algerian football following the suspension of international Youcef Belaili and three other top-division players.

Algeria was the only North African country to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, but the latest controversy raises doubts over the country's footballing future.

A media investigation has suggested that corruption was common in Algerian football clubs, due to a lack of consistent regulation.

The damning report by London-based Al-Arabi al-Jadid on 27 January says that the four recent cases are not unique, and highlights 10 other instances where players tested positive for drug use since 2013.
