Remembering one of football's worst disasterspublished at 12:22 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

"The Burnden Park stadium disaster was the worst loss of life at an English football ground before the 1980s. Thirty-three people died and around 400 were injured in a crush at an FA Cup tie 70 years ago.

"Some estimates claim 85,000 people were at the FA Cup sixth-round match between Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City. However, the ground should have held at least 20,000 fewer fans.

"Phyllis Robb was among them. As the crush began to be felt, she was photographed being lifted to safety and passed over the heads of the rest of the fans.

"Now aged 101, she remembers it well."

So starts a fascinating feature on the BBC Sport website, which, if you wish, you can read in full here.

Worst Premier League managerspublished at 12:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2016

    Football

Here's some of the possible contenders for our worst Premier League manager debate - remember we're taking into account who they managed and how much they spent, not just a win percentage.

Steve McClaren has spent £85m at Newcastle so far with a win rate of 21% - narrowly better than short-term bosses John Carver and Joe Kinnear.

Roy Hodgson spent the same amount at Liverpool, but only managed to win 35% of his games.

Steve Kean had a 22% win rate in the Premier League at Blackburn after spending £60m.

Billy Davies won 7% of his Premier League games with Derby after a £14m spend before getting the boot.

Boss Guus Hiddink says Chelsea must channel their anger properly and focus on being 'tough underdogs' when they host French champions Paris St Germain in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie on Wednesday.

The Blues are 2-1 down from the first leg.

Hiddink said: "We are not the favourites. But let's be very tough underdogs. We need to be angry in a controlled way. The players must be fully concentrated."

Watson - who had previously won the Japan Open in 2012 and last year's Hobart International - said: "I was so nervous coming into the match because I'd never beaten Kirsten before.

Arsene Wenger also spoke about the criticism he has received, from both fans and pundits.

"I have always the same pressure which is the same pressure I apply to myself," he said. "It is the same.

"After that, people talk and you have more people talking than 20 years ago and more opinions. That doesn't change the pressure. The real pressure comes from your desire to win the next game and that is the only one that matters really.

"I believe that opinions are opinions. I do my job and one day someone will replace me and will replace you. That is part of life and as long as you have done well, given your best and that is the quality of work people do.

"That is what I try to do. I try to do my best and leave this club in the best shape so the guy coming after me will have good potential to work with."
