    Irish Minister of Sport Michael Ring says he plans to regulate mixed martial arts in the country following the death of fighter Joao Carvalho on Monday.

    The Portuguese died in Dublin after spending 48 hours in a critical condition following a bout. "Clearly there's a problem," the Irish Sports Minister told RTE Radio 1's Today with Sean O'Rourke.

    More Cricket news and England left-arm seamer Reece Topley has been ruled out for six to eight weeks by the fractured right hand he sustained making his debut in bat for Hampshire on Sunday. 

    The blow rules Topley out, external of at least the start of England's Test series with Sri Lanka, although he was unlikely to have made his Test debut in the rubber. He should recover in time for the limited-overs internationals against Sri Lanka, beginning in late June.

    Crystal Palace forward Emmanuel Adebayor has returned to fitness and is in the squad to face Everton in Wednesday's re-arranged fixture.

    James McArthur is back in training but will not be considered for this match.

    Everton captain Phil Jagielka will miss the game because of a hamstring injury and is a doubt for the FA Cup semi-final on 23 April.

    Tom Cleverley will be assessed after suffering a minor injury at the weekend, but Ross Barkley is fit.

    The Bombay High Court has ordered the Indian Premier League to shift 13 games from the drought-hit state of Maharashtra to ease the water crisis there. 

    It has followed a public interest litigation filed by a non-profit group which contended that a lot of water would be wasted in watering the pitches. 

    The court ordered games scheduled from April 30 in the cities of Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur to be shifted out, including the final which is scheduled for Mumbai on May 29.

    West Ham will be without Diafra Sakho for Wednesday's FA Cup quarter-final replay against Manchester United.

    Hammers manager Slaven Bilic insists a knee injury - rather than a rift, external - will keep the forward out for a week.

    Wayne Rooney returned after two months out with a knee injury for Manchester United's Under-21 side on Monday and could be involved at Upton Park.

    Phil Jones will also be assessed along with Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who was injured in Sunday's loss at Tottenham.

    Later on Wednesday marks the last game in an LA Lakers shirt for Kobe Bryant. After 48,576 minutes on court, over 20 NBA seasons, Bryant will have his last hurrah against Utah Jazz.

    British weightlifter Jack Oliver is out of European weightlifting championships in Norway due to a suspected dislocated elbow.

    The 25-year-old was hurt attempting to lift 178kg in Wednesday's 77kg event.

    Oliver is the British record holder but now faces and anxious wait to see if the injury is serious enough to rule him out of the Olympics.

    It's all about the food today... the Formula 1 drivers appear to have gathered for some dinner in Shanghai before this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

    World championship leader Nico Rosberg also had a playful dig at the sport's boss Bernie Ecclestone who recently described them as "windbags" for complaining about how F1 is run.

    As mentioned at 16:05, it's the first time since August that Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of a tournament before a final since being beaten by Ivo Karlovic in the Doha quarter-final in the first event of 2015.    

    Earlier this year Djokovic was forced to retire from his Dubai Tennis Championships quarter-final against Feliciano Lopez due to an eye problem.

    Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of the Monte Carlo Masters in the second round. He's lost to the Czech world number 55 Jiri Vesely 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. 

    It's the first time the Serbian world number one has lost a completed match since August.

    Seconds out... Tyson Fury has been verbal sparring again towards Anthony Joshua, this time calling him a  "pumped up weightlifter" at a media event. Just over a week ago Fury sparked an exchanged of words after calling the new IBF heavyweight champion "useless".

    Fury called out Joshua immediately after the victory, labelling him "slow" and "ponderous" on Twitter, and he continued his war of words with the London 2012 gold medallist on Wednesday.  

    He also warned Wladimir Klitschko of "another hiding" in their re-match this summer.
