Real Madrid and Wales forward Gareth Bale is confident his club will progress to the Champions League final, despite failing to make their chances count in a goalless first-leg at Manchester City.

Bale, playing his first game in England since his £85m move from Tottenham in 2013, could not provide the spark in Cristiano Ronaldo's absence on Tuesday.

But he is upbeat about Real's chances of making the Milan finale on 28 May.

"We go to the Bernabeu where we have a great record, where we score a lot of goals, very confident and we are looking forward to it," says Bale.

Can Pep leave Bayern on a high?published at 14:41

Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich (19:45 BST)

The second Champions League semi-final gets under way in around five hours time.

Will Pep Guardiola mastermind a European triumph for Bayern Munich before he departs for Manchester City?

The Bundesliga club face Atletico Madrid, who beat holders Barcelona in the quarter-finals and have conceded just five goals in this season's competition.

"I'm expecting a hard match against an opponent with a lot of attacking potential, against a coach who changes from game to game," said Atletico boss Diego Simeone.

"Obviously we have a coach and players with different characteristics. But in wars it isn't the side with the most soldiers that wins, it's the side that uses its soldiers better."

Manager Lee Clark tells his Kilmarnock players they are fighting to save people's jobs at Rugby Park.

Clark admits non-football staff may have to leave as part of any cost-cutting, should the club go down.

He wants his squad to understand it is livelihoods as well as Premiership safety the squad is playing for.

"It's not just about the football side, it's about good people behind the scenes, who are supporters and have been here for many years," he said.

Kilmarnock are next-to-bottom in the Scottish Premiership.
