Adam Millicent: Wilshere, who didn't even play a whole game this season, over Drinkwater, who won the Premier League 

Nick: Yet again we don't pick players based on form, just reputation, Sterling, Wilshire, Henderson et al 

Mark Smythe: So only one defensive midfielder in the entire squad. It's not as if the centre-backs need protecting at all 

Danny Drinkwater has taken to Instagram to give his reaction to missing out on a spot in England's Euro 2016 squad...

"Danny Drinkwater has had such a good season. I feel he deserved to be in the squad. He's the unluckiest player to miss out on this selection.

"With five strikers in the team, having Wayne Rooney in the squad will now be for a three-man midfield or as a more defensive role. 

"Andros Townsend finished the season strongly, Raheem Sterling did not. But we know what Sterling can do at international level."

Tom Holmes: Absolutely disgraceful that Drinkwater is dropped. Not like he started almost every game for a title winning team...oh wait.

The England squad has been announced. The headline news is that Marcus Rashford and Daniel Sturridge are both included.

The men to miss out are midfielders Danny Drinkwater and Andros Townsend.

Elliott Callender: Sturridge can be one of the best, he's worth the risk. Scott Dann should have been in the team, had an excellent season. 

Andrew Neill: Has anyone see Roy recently? He was meant to announce the squad after training but that finished hours ago......

Daniel O'Brien: Bench of four. A 14-year-old got on as third sub ahead of me, was poor. Then deducted six points for fielding underage player.

Antti Niemi (football) - The former Finland and Fulham goalkeeper, born 1972, is celebrating his 44th birthday. 

Chad Campbell (golf) - The three-time United States Ryder Cup player, born 1974, turns 42 today. 

Leon Haslam (motorsport) - World Superbikes Championship racer, son of former racer Ron Haslam, was born in 1983 making him 33 today.

Marco Reus (football) - The Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder, who was born in 1989, is 27. Not that happy a birthday though as he's been left out of the Euro 2016 squad.
